Come and see buildings where time has seemingly stood still, as we walk through the baroque alleys of Vienna, which is considered one of the world's most beautiful cities. The former imperial capital of the Holy Roman Empire didn't spare expenses when it came to representation. That's what brought the best architects to Vienna, who created a town that's rightfully part of the UNESCO World Heritage catalogue. If you are, like me, interested in buildings that make you feel like you're travelling through time just by coming across them, this is the tour for you. Starting at the heart of medieval/roman Vienna, we'll walk by reflections of many time periods all the way to the 20th century. We'll stroll past medieval churches, baroque palaces & finally get to know what Art Nouveau actually means. We'll also take the opportunity to walk through parts of the Viennese old town, which is seemingly off the beaten track even though we might actually be just a few hidden alleys behind it. . . Customizable itinerary:
·We'll start our tour in Saint Rupert's Church, the oldest one in Vienna and the very heart of the medieval town. ·From here we'll walk up Judengasse to get to the Hoher Markt and see how Vienna's main market square has changed over the centuries. ·Next we'll pass by the old Town Hall, walking through the medieval jewish town area, with its narrow baroque alleys. ·We'll then reach the Graben, the main boulevard of Vienna, with its monument to the plague at its very centre. ·From there we won't be far from Saint Stephen's Cathedral, the big Symbol of Vienna for almost 900 years now. ·Right next to it, we'll see the headquarters of the teutonic order, the old crusader order, that is now forgotten by many, but still very much alive in Vienna. ·Via Kärntnerstrasse, we'll reach the New Market with the imperial crypt. ·Then in Albertina, we'll see remains of the old city wall. ·Next, we'll finish by walking through the Imperial Palace to reach the Ringstraße, with the Parliament Buidling and new Town Hall.
