Launceston City Sights Tour

Nestled in the Tamar Valley where two small rivers, the South Esk and the North Esk, join together to make the larger Tamar River, Launceston is one of Australia's oldest cities with a streetscape of early colonial heritage, beautiful parklands and a relaxed lifestyle. The tour begins with a drive through the city streets, highlighting some of the beautiful architecture featuring statues, Corinthian columns, balconies with wrought iron lattice work, huge windows with archways depicting men, women and animals. For those who say that Adelaide is the 'City of Churches' obviously haven't been to Launceston!!! Then we will go up to a lookout over the city and Tamar Valley for photo opportunities. The Trevallyn Dam was built so that Launceston could generate Hydro Electricity. But Launceston's main attraction is the Cataract Gorge, an expansive parkland right next to the CBD. Here we will walk around the First Basin taking in the stunning scenery. The tour will end in the City Park right in the heart of the city.
