Embark on a captivating journey through scenic forests and ascend to the summit of Cerro Goye (gaining 800 m in 10 km), a peak offering a breathtaking 360º panorama of lakes & mountains. I suggest you keep an eye out for the presence of condors gracefully soaring around, enhancing the enchantment of the scenery. If the weather gods of Patagonia are good to us, we might stay in the summit for lunch and enjoy the landscape before walking down (weather is always a factor in the mountains so you should be prepared for various conditions). Named in honor of one of the pioneers from the quaint village nestled at its base, "The Swiss Colony" at Cerro Goye promises a rewarding hiking experience. Our adventure actually concludes in this charming town, where you can enjoy the flavours of the region by tasting Patagonian craft beer. Allow me to introduce you to one of Bariloche's natural playgrounds, a location we frequently choose for hiking to the top to drink some "mates", or to go backcountry skiing in winter.
·We'd start the day by meeting at your place of accommodation, followed by a journey to the Swiss Colony village, where our hiking adventure would commence. ·Our ascent begins through a beautiful lenga forest, tracing a consolidated trail. ·Along the way, there are creeks providing opportunities to refill our water supply that we'll stop by. ·Upon emerging above the forest canopy and reaching the ridge, spectacular views of the surrounding landscape and our ultimate summit unfold before us! ·At the summit, the descent offers 2 options: retracing our steps along the same trail or navigating a more direct yet challenging ridge. Additionally, in close proximity lies another summit, Cerro Bellavista, offering an opportunity for further exploration along an adjacent ridge. ·Once we return to our starting point, we'll venture in a short 300 m walk to the Swiss Colony town. There, we can toast to our successful summit with a well-deserved beer. Please message me for more details if you have any questions!
