Hi! My name is Thomas P, and I would be honored to be your personal guide during your visit to Skagway Alaska! I arrived in Skagway in 1981, for a three-month summer job while I was attending University. Look what happened, 37 years later, and I'm still here! I'm here because I love this place, it's unique in the entire world, with beautiful scenery, amazing people and a very interesting story which I would love to share with you! An incredible amount of energy passed through this tiny break in the mountains, for a very short time, and without a doubt, you can still feel it today, when the wind blows, which is pretty much everyday! One reason I stayed is because it has given me the opportunity to travel widely during the off-season. I try each year to go someplace interesting for at least a couple of months, then come back, work hard, and do it all over again. International travel and study has allowed me the opportunity to learn a couple of new languages, and indulge in my passion for photography as well (I'm also a professional photographer). I'm fluent in Spanish, with a university degree in that field. I am also conversational in the Thai language, and know enough Mandarin Chinese to travel, and occasionally make people laugh. I've been giving tours based in Skagway since 1992. This year will mark my 27th year as a guide. I'm pretty sure that I'm the longest-serving guide in Skagway. During that time, I've given a LOT of tours! My "office" is the South Klondike Highway, which leads from Skagway up into Canada, entering British Columbia first, then the incredible Yukon Territory, up to spectacular Emerald Lake, just north of the village of Carcross. Out of all the travel that I've done, in dozens of countries, the South Klondike remains one of my absolute favorite roads in the entire world, and I have the privilege of calling it my "office"! Probably my best skill as a guide, is to personalize each and every tour to the individual group. I have some spots that are personal favorites, but if you happen to like a particular place, just give a shout, and we'll stop there! If you want history, local stories, geology, photography pointers, personal stories, or just want to take a hike and smell the amazing, pure air of the North, I can do that for you. We see a lot of wildlife, but of course that is never guaranteed. Bears are fairly common in May and June in particular, and Mountain Goats are seen throughout the visitor season, and I have a good eye for spotting them! I look forward to showing you my home, during your visit to Skagway! I have 27 years of experience guiding tours based in Skagway, I'm pretty sure no-one has more experience. I have a Skagway City Business License as well as a Alaska State Business License Degrees: BA in Spanish. Western Washington University Bellingham, WA 1983 Graduate level work, Spanish Language. Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana Medellin, Colombia. 2012 I do not have any restrictions in regards to my guiding, I can offer a full range of experiences.
