Hello, my name is Kurt and I am a certified Tour Director who loves to travel and understands what people expect when visiting a city for the first or fifth time. I graduated from the International Guide Academy in Denver Colorado and have traveled to many amazing places but nothing beats my hometown of Nashville. I grew up in Buffalo New York and moved to Tennessee 23 years ago, to run a chicken restaurant in Jackson Tn. Jackson is halfway between Nashville and Memphis so I got the best of both worlds, both cities have great food and music. Ten years ago, Nashville started to change and I fell in love with what was going on and all the changes that were happening, so we packed our bags and moved to Music City. Most people come to Nashville to start a music career, I came to start my new career as a tour guide. I started by doing walking tours downtown for the CVB and backstage tours at the Grand Ole Opry. Five years ago I started working for a tour company in Nashville doing mid to large-size group tours that covered the whole city. There are so many things to see and do and talk about, I do not have the space to share it all here, but have you wondered why we are called, Music City? What is the story about Nashville's hot chicken and why is our hockey team named after a prehistoric animal? These are just a few things we can talk about. Now, through ToursByLocals, I want to focus on smaller groups of 2-6 people where you are not a number but where you are a guest. With my love for history and staying on top of current happenings, my goal is to tell you all we have to offer from the past to the present day. Not only can we talk music history but I am happy to help you find that great place that is a hidden gem. It would be my honor to show you around the city I call home with all it has to offer.
