Tour guide in Keaau Lani

Aloha! My name is Lani, private tour guide for the beautiful Big Island of Hawai’i, which I call my home! 🌺 Every morning I wake up & thank God because I live in one of the most beautiful and sacred places on the planet. With over 10 years of experience as an island tour guide, (Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island), I’ve led many different kinds of tours: ocean adventures on catamarans, guided horseback, ATV and jeep tours, cacao and garden tours, waterfall tours, dolphin and manta tours and now Volcano tours too! I have a State of Hawaii PUC license, and my TSA certified pass (TWIC) which allows me to pick you right up at the cruise ship pier in Hilo. Besides being a tour guide, I have been a hula dancer for over a decade and both of my children dance hula as well; in fact, we used to do family hula shows together at the Kona oceanfront in my younger days! My Hawaiian name Lani was actually gifted to me by Miss Aloha Hula 1986 (Healani Youn)! I am more than happy to share some basic hula steps & history with you, and can even perform a sacred chant to our fire goddess Pelehonumea when we visit her at Kilauea crater if you’d like, where we could give her an offering with ti leaf as local believers here do. This is something quite special that no other regular tour guide offers, to my knowledge. I was also a direct survivor of the 2018 Kilauea eruption in Leilani Estates where half of my face actually got swollen for 3 days because I was in the Estates the night before the fissures were announced on the news. Luckily, I was healed with plant medicine by a local Hawaiian Kumu! I’d be glad to tell you about this firsthand lived experience and many more if I get the chance to take you on a tour. With me, your Hawai’i adventure would be very memorable, elevated, beautiful and unique. If you so desired, I could greet you with a lei upon arrival to welcome you to our islands. My goal is to go above and beyond and make sure you leave with a sense of the pure magic, wonder, and beauty of these islands. Allow an aloha ambassador and true practitioner of Hawaiian culture like myself (hula, lomi lomi, and la’au la pa’au) to share ancient Hawaiian legends, stories, and myths that have been passed down for generations, told in a very entertaining and enjoyable manner. I can also teach you some funny local pidgin and Hawaiian words! If you’d like, I can even lead a small workshop where I can teach you how to make a flower, rope, or lei with ti leaf, just like the ancient Hawaiians did. My specialty is leading small, private groups of 1 to 4; the very best way to get a personalized experience of Hawaii Island. I offer full day tours and half day tours to fit everyone’s needs and desires. All of the photos in my tours are original and taken by me (and my daughters). Most of my tours are perfect for cruise ship passengers, because I always make sure you see the best our island has to offer, and bring you back to the pier with plenty of time to spare.
