Guide #57384
Like the Charles River and the Boston Marathon, I started out in Hopkinton, Massachusetts and meandered my way to Boston. Growing up in the suburbs, I was lucky to have a beautiful stretch of conservation land behind my home and I spent most of my free time catching frogs, climbing trees, and skipping stones. The memories of growing up in nature had a positive impact on my physical and mental well-being and inspired me to build my career around providing youth growing up in the city access to nature. Seeing the glow that people have when observing the world from the cockpit of a kayak or the top of a mountain for the first time is what gives me purpose and it is an absolute joy to provide those experiences. Boston and Cambridge are two incredible cities that have a rich cultural history that is impacted extensively by the nature of where they are located. During my tours you will learn how the cities went from being covered by a mile-high glacier 15, 000 years ago and how humans expanded the landmass of the area to hold the famous landmarks that tourists come to appreciate today. We will uncover the story of how Boston and Cambridge came to be either on foot or by kayaking on the Charles River and I will provide binoculars so we can appreciate the wildlife we see along the way. Even in the city, there is a lot to observe. You just have to know where to look! I live in the Boston/Cambridge area because there is a deep appreciation for education. I believe that when you get to know something, you'll understand and love it, and when you love something, you will protect it. One goal of my tours is to convey that a healthy ecosystem makes for a healthy city and I want to empower people who take my tours to protect their local natural spaces. Outside my love of the outdoors, I thoroughly enjoy bringing my friends together to explore museums, eat tasty meals, and dance to live music. I am happy to give recommendations on where to head after my tour and will happily provide a ride as well. I have a Subaru hatchback that can comfortably fit four additional people and their belongings. Overall my tours provide a fully catered experience that highlights both the cultural and natural richness of Cambridge and Boston. The most unique is the kayak tour where we will use the natural flow of the Charles River to see the most stunning views that Boson and Cambridge have to offer. I am very open to creating custom tours based off your interests. Please send me a message describing your wants and needs and I will make it happen! -Bachelor of Science in Environmental Education -Master of Science in Environmental Education -Small Watercraft Safety and Wilderness First Aid Certified I am not a licensed guide and will not be able to guide you inside of the historical monuments.
