Dear traveler, My name is Danijela and I live in beautiful costal town Piran in Slovenia. As long as I remember, I've always lived at border with Italy. My hometown Nova Gorica and Italy's Gorizia today live as one city, but in times of Jugoslavia, life at the border was very different. Cities were divided with high fence, barbed wired and customs was strict if you wanted to enter Italy. There so I have many stories to share with you about that period, for example ladies from Slovenian Karst were smuggling salt for salting famous Karst prosciutto in the frames of their bicycles! Today, I still live in this particular border area, but this time my bordering town is Trieste. I finished studies at Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana. I'm a professor of Philosophy and Cultural Sociology. I'm interested in history, arts, culture, human beliefs and nature. I enjoy reading and exploring the history of this special border environment, mainly because it talks about multiculturalism, tolerance, respect for ethnic minorities and their beliefs. All of this is shown in Trieste unique lifestyle, a truly cosmopolitan city which I would love to show you. Becoming a tour guide was a highlight in my life. I love travelling and I being in contact with different people. I truly belive that traveling opens horizons, strengthens tolerance and makes people happier. That's what happens to me when I travel myself. Therefore, when I guide, the happiness of my guests is my primary goal. I've got a lot of experience in driving/guiding by car/van and safety is very important for me.
