*Booked out for March - April 2025. *PLEASE MESSAGE ME BEFORE BOOKING to ensure your tour is customized for you! Hi there! I’m Akiko, your dedicated licensed guide. I currently live near Ikebukuro. Having spent most of my life in Japan—growing up in the suburbs, attending university, and working in Tokyo’s dynamic offices—I offer more than just tours; I provide a genuine insider’s perspective on this vibrant region. As a mother of two teenage boys, I’ve explored countless family-friendly spots in Tokyo, giving me valuable insights into attractions and activities that appeal to all age groups. Beyond family outings, I’ve served as a Tokyo Metropolitan Government volunteer guide at major train terminals, helping guests navigate the city. I also had the privilege of volunteering at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021 as a personal assistant to International Olympic Committee executives. Now, as a paid guide, I lead tours at locations like Tsukiji Fish Market, Asakusa, Harajuku, Akihabara, Yanaka, Ueno, Shibuya, Shimokitazawa, Ikebukuro, Imperial Palace, Odaiba, and Akasaka, while crafting personalized itineraries tailored to each guest’s unique preferences. I also provide day trips to Hakone (Mt. Fuji), Nikko, Kamakura, and Aizu-wakamatsu. I’m fluent in English, having lived in Atlanta, Georgia for three years and thereafter frequently visiting Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where my father worked. My meticulous nature ensures every tour is well-prepared and memorable. Think of me as your friend in Tokyo, guiding you to amazing places and helping you connect with locals. I have experience guiding guests with autism and always strive to create a comfortable, engaging, and sensory-friendly environment. I can adjust pacing, avoid crowded areas, and ensure an enjoyable experience based on individual needs. Additionally, I have guided guests using wheelchairs and am familiar with accessible routes and accommodations in Tokyo to make your trip as smooth as possible. My teenage sons can also join the tours at your request, subject to their availability. This will add a fun and relatable dynamic for younger travelers or families. Bring your sense of wonder and adventure, and let’s explore Japan together! Whether you’re a family, a couple, or a solo traveler, I’m here to ensure your journey is filled with joy, discovery, and cultural immersion. Qualifications: National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (English) Tokyo Volunteer Guide (English) Itinerary Control Manager I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.
