Hello, my name is Elena. I was born in a small village near Florence and spent part of my life there, studying languages since the age of 11. I attended language high school and language University in Florence, where I had the chance to study English and French. When I got my first degree in 2009 in Florence, I started working as a group tour leader for day tours visiting nearby cities from Florence. This first job inspired me and let me understand that tourism was one of my passions. I met some guides in Siena and I started to share their passion for the city and its culture, so I moved there and attended a year course to become an officially licensed city guide for Siena. I started working straight away, and in the meantime I kept studying, talking to locals, discovering and learning new things. My big passion for new challenges brought me further, so I got a Master degree in linguistics in Siena in 2015, while working as a guide, which inspired my thesis about the use of different languages in tourism. Lockdown in 2020 and 2021 increased my love for nature, so I took advantage of some extra time to get a new license as a hiking-nature guide, which I mainly practice in the beautiful hills near my house, in Chianti. Walking through the beautiful Tuscan landscape and into some of our refreshing forests made me appreciate the great value of a slow pace. I think it's great to stop and look at what is around us, breathing fresh air or listening to the street noises, while discovering a new place and country. I'm a very active person, I love nature, art, architecture, food and wine and I keep discovering new passions. I think traveling is one of the things that really make us richer. While traveling, people have the opportunity to open to new cultures and styles and immerse themselves into other traditions through experience. This is exactly what I try to do every time I welcome my guests in Siena and surroundings: I would love to enrich their memory of a great trip with new and personal experiences. Living in such a beautiful area makes me feel blessed, and it's great to share this joy with people coming from all over the world!
