Guide #39609
Hello! My name is Fabrizio, I am a Roman native but have been living in Tuscany for the past 25 years. Even though my original academic background is in business administration, I went back to University to learn about ancient history and am currently enrolled in post-graduate studies as an archaeologist. This has given me the chance to visit and learn about places and spots off the beaten track which I am happy to share in turn with my visitors, especially those requesting personalized tours. I have been working as a licensed tour guide for the past ten years now and I find particularly challenging and rewarding the idea of introducing foreign visitors to Italian culture and heritage under all its aspects: history, food, craftsmanship and other aspects which might intrigue the intelligent and discriminate traveler. I do speak fluent English as I spent considerable time in Canada as teenager, and am looking forward to guide you through exciting places such as Florence - the cradle of the Renaissance or Arezzo, a lesser known Tuscan city-of-art or "città d'arte". When I was 25 I lived for a period in beautiful Venice, as at the time I was serving in the army as a First Lieutenant of the Carabinieri (Military Police). During my free time from service I would often explore the city, a history book in my hand, in long solitary walks and that's how I fell in love with her. . . . when I in later years took up archaeology, I spent time digging in the lagoon on two different occasions, both being projects under the supervision of the Archaeology department of Venetian Ca' Foscari University. When taking my visitors on a tour I like to introduce them, if they so request to local eateries where they can have a taste of our selection of foods and wines in the same places where florentines and "aretini" go, carefully avoiding the "tourist-traps" which abound in places that heavily rely on tourists for their economic activity. I like this job because it gives me the chance to interact with people fron all over the world, from all walks of life, in a relaxed and positive atmosphere. I will be more than happy to consider personalized requests and itineraries if you so wish. I can arrange for you transportation with a licensed driver in order to explore areas of the Tuscan countryside without you needing to rent a car and drive in an unfamiliar area. I do have my own Alfa Romeo, but being a two-seater it is not the best choice to take more than one visitor riding! Undergraduate studies in "scienze per i beni culturali" UNISI - Università di Siena Currently attending post-graduate studies in "archeologia classica" or Classical Archaeology at UNIFI - Università di Firenze Licensed tour guide since 2010 none
