Guide #68222
Hello, my name is Dominic Francis, I am a 60-year-old Gibraltarian having been brought up and lived in Gibraltar for most of my life. As a native British Gibraltarian, I have seen how Gibraltar has transformed itself from a British Military Base during my younger years to what it has become today. A vibrant city-state with buckets of history for those keen and inquisitive travellers to learn of, and explore. Our story dates back all the way from the Neanderthals with Gorham's cave our UNESCO world heritage site, through to the Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs, Spanish and finally the British and Dutch, all of whom make up the rich tapestry of our history. If history isn't your thing Gibraltar's breathtaking views of two different continents (and three different countries) along with its wide range of fauna and flora should still be right up your street with over 315 different types of Birds being recorded on the rock due to our position on bird migratory routes! It is also home to our 200+ Macaques, the only wild macaques on the European continent. Today, Gibraltar is a vibrant Financial Centre, a busy tourist destination and a popular port of call. Sitting on the gateway to the Mediterranean it is a migratory hotspot and a cultural melting pot. While still remaining a very strategic location to all as it has done for hundreds of years. I am very proud of my ancestry and of my ancestral home, Gibraltar and as a local guide I can't wait to share some of its many wonders with you as an unforgettable experience through one of the many tours I offer (find these below). All minibus tours will make use of a luxurious, air-conditioned and well-kept eight-seater minibus. Tour stops can be adjusted to suit your interests along with Pickup and Drop-off points. Trained and certified by the Gibraltar Tourist Board including additional certifications in Macaque behaviour.
