I've been fortunate to live in 9 countries and visit 41. Summiting the peaks of Buksan. Hiking the mountains, cypress forests and tea plantations in South Korea. Swimming in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans across North America, South America and Asia. Camping on the US East and West Coast. Exploring the Pacific Northwest. Horseback riding the plains of the US Midwest. Exploring the markets of Seoul and streets of New York. Walking the 7 Hills of Lisbon. Sandsurfing the deserts of Saudi Arabia. Sailing on the Arabian Sea. Exploring the sights of Heidelberg, Colmar, Grenada, Strasbourg, Stuttgart, Munich, Berlin, Basel, Zurich, Karlsruhe, Paris and Zurich, to name a few. Who could ever forget the majestic coastlines of Normandy?! I could go on forever. I've been fortunate. Through these many varied experiences I have learned open-mindedness, enjoy the little moments in life, and take opportunities when they come. I have also learned the best experiences are shared! Since 2020, I have lived in the beautiful city of Freiburg, surrounded by the grandeur and majesty of the Black Forest, a UNESCO Biosphere Preserve. Dating back over 900 years, Freiburg is a medium-sized city with a small-town feel. Its wide streets, narrow alleys and unique Bächle and Gässle lead to many surprises and hidden gems. If you're single, beware the Bächle! For those wanting more, Freiburg is surrounded by the Black Forest. There are 9 mountains just inside the city and 19 more nearby! Freiburg has a rich and vibrant local culture and nightlife. The Black Forest cakes explode with taste. The vineyards of Markgräflerland produce world-class wines. Everyone should try the Eiswein at least once in their lifetime! Hiking Castle Mountain leads to stunning views of the city. The home-brewed beers at House Brewery Feierling are the best in this region. Festivals abound with Fastnacht, wine festivals, picnics, music festivals and Christmas Markets. We even have a 158-year-old love story that continues today with its legend and intrigue. Regional sights abound with Lake Titisee and Ravenna Gorge being prominent places. The cable car at Schauinsland is a nearly 20-minute ride above a mountain pine forest. The hanging bridge at Todtnau is an adventure on a windy day. The waterfalls of Triberg are the longest in Germany, while the nearby Black Forest Museum showcases the rich history and culture of the Black Forest. At the Black Forest Open Air Museum we examine 600 years of Black Forest living, not to mention the ride on a 19th-century replica train to get there. I could write an entire book here! Even better, come experience it for yourself!
