My name is Eric. I was born in Paris, registred driver and expert guide in Germany since 1999.
My parents and grandparents were of Prussian-German, Polish and French descent, so I consider myself to be truly European. Perhaps it was this diverse background of my family that instilled in me the desire and enthusiasm to study and learn about other countries, the people and their evolution through history and their way of life. It also gave me the advantage of being multilingual from an early age, for which I have always been very grateful, as it has served me so well in my chosen profession. I will tell you more about myself later, as I need to know something about you to help decide the very best time for you.

Do you want to explore exciting cities ancient and new, quaint towns, picturesque half timbered villages, amazing UNESCO sites, fabulous castles and monuments, to discover hidden secrets of local life? Do you appreciate to travel thru beautiful scenery, to learn about the old and new traditions and customs of where you visit? Then come with me when we can discover all these things and more. Naturally there must also be time to just relax, to sit, to stroll, maybe to shop, to feel the ambience of a place, to perhaps meet with other local people, to enjoy the company of your fellow travelers, or just have some time out on your own. You choose the pace and I will respect all that.

So, back to me again as promised. . . After leaving Paris as a young man I worked in France, Germany and more of Europe, eventually settling from 1982 on the French Riviera for a while. There I worked for some years as a limousine chauffeur in Monaco, coach driver and winter ski instructor. A very varied and good life, I considered myself very fortunate.

Since then I progressed to my full time professional career as a registred driver and Tour Guide, working once again through the whole of Europe gaining in depth knowledge and experience of the places I am passionate about and hope to share with you. Since 2009 I settled in a 5000 inhabitant wine-growing village near Frankfurt on the river Main where I specialised on the Rhein-Main-Neckar area, conducting local day-tours or multiple-day German and European tours for English speaking travellers (since 2012 with ToursByLocals).

It would bring me much pleasure to be considered as your guide or private chauffeur as required. We would share a unique time together, very interesting visits, local food or drink specialties, and hopefully good weather too! As you may have gathered I am a people person. . . though I do like animals as well!

It is my aim that we may meet as fellow travellers. . . enjoy the miles with smiles and depart as friends.

In some museums and historical monuments the visit is only permitted within a group conducted by the staff of the place (or audio guide).

A short drive takes us to the unique Romantic Heidelberg & oldest university city in Germany.
Its extended Castle area is reached by the funicular ride. Included guided tour via the courtyard & cellar and see the largest wine barrel in the world built 1751.

You are going to enjoy taking photos from there towards the valley and the Neckar river or from the top of the 7m high barrel where 70 people can dance together. You hear more about the history of this symbolic place for the Palatinate coveted (but not taken) by the French King Louis XIV in 1689.

Walking together on the longest pedestrian street in Germany, we pass the 1389 church of the Holy Spirit, the 1598 „Zum Ritter" building, and the old University square.

Enjoy the Boat ride on the Neckar river up to medieval Neckarsteinach passing beautiful scenery just before arriving to the town surrounded with 4 medieval castles.

Heidelberg from Frankfurt- Full Day Experience

What a fantastic and enjoyable tour.
First we go to visit the superb medieval 13CY castle Braunfels still in the hands of a private family.
After your guided tour we continue to a brewery located in the medieval village of Hachenburg where you will enjoy a beer tasting and demonstration.
A voyage through the forested area and beautiful countryside.

Touring Hessen and Rheinland Palatinate

Our first visit will be for Alsfeld well known for its well-preserved old town with hundreds of picturesque timber-frame houses and the village of Romrod home of family members.
We then cross part of the Taunus mountain range. The tallest peak in the range is Großer Feldberg at 878 m; other notable peaks are Kleiner Feldberg and Altkön
The range is known for its geothermal springs and mineral waters that formerly attracted members of the European aristocracy to its spa towns. The car Ford Taunus is named after it.
Continue for the Castle Braunfels First mentioned as Castellum Brunenvelsz in 1246. This imposing fortification was expanded and reinforced over the following 300 years. It still belongs to the private family of counts' and princes' of Solms-Braunfels.
On the way back to Frankfurt we stop at the Saalburg a Roman fort located on the main ridge of the Taunus, northwest of Bad Homburg. It is a cohort fort, part of the Limes Germanicus, the Roman linear border fortification of the German provinces.
