Hello, my name is Hubert and Bordeaux is my hometown. I have been an independent tour guide for the last 8 years.
I graduated Bordeaux university with two Masters: one in Roman History with a special focus on Bordeaux and its region, and another one in Journalism.
I worked as a journalist for 8 years in Paris reporting for a television channel. Thanks to this great experience, I have travelled extensively all over the world and developed a deep appreciation for other cultures.
After living in Paris for several years, I decided to go back to my first two loves: Bordeaux and History.
I am now a full-time tour guide in Bordeaux, the Bay of Arcachon, and St Emilion.
My roots are in Bordeaux and I take great pleasure in sharing this city I love so much. I know each street and alley, each statue, each corner. They all have a story I am eager to tell.

My tours are unique and customized to the needs and interests of my audience. It is really important to me that you feel comfortable and engaged. I am energetic and bring my stories to life by communicating my passion. I like making connections between Bordeaux, the French history, and the country of my guests. And I always do so with humor.

My one and only goal is to offer a unique and unforgettable experience.

I can pick you up in Bordeaux or Pauillac ; the Basque Country (Biarritz / St Jean de Luz / Bayonne) ; or La Rochelle . I do not pick up at "Le Verdon" .

Let's explore La Rochelle, one of the greatest port cities in France. Great sailing ships would depart from the historic port, laden with wines, salt and household goods, bound for the New World or for the port cities of northern Europe - Bristol, London, Rotterdam, Hamburg and beyond. La Rochelle was a great Huguenot Protestant bastion in Catholic France, an international city with its communities of English, German and Dutch merchants and traders.
We will visit the historic Old Port and the famous "three towers", the narow streets, many of them closed to vehicles, bordered by medieval and Renaissance houses, built in the distinctive local white limestone, and I I will show you "The Bunker", a remain when La Rochelle was at the time a major German U-boat base.
After a lunch, we will visit in Cognac, a famous distillerie and we will have a great tasting of course !

La Rochelle and Cognac tour

After a 20 miles ride to the St Emilion region in a comfortable car, I will give you a real tour of Saint Emilion (not just a stroll). You will discover its religious history, the English influence during the middle age, and we will have also a tasting in a unique hidden bakery in St Emilion, the one where the local macaron is baked. Some wine shops and underground caves will be on our way if you wish.
Nearby the village, you will have a first visit of an amazing winery where you will learn about the local winemaking methods, the processes required to produce wine and processing, and hints on the necessary financial investments and risks. A tasting of 3 red wines will end the tour.
Then we will have a tasting in a family estate. The same family has owned the winery for 300 years.
Then we will have another tasting in third winery. Either a small family one or a "grand cru classé" depending on your taste !

Day trip to Saint Emilion + wine tasting

From Bordeaux I will guide you throughout this trip by giving you lots of interesting information about our region. 

Along the Garonne river stop at Saint Croix du Mont to see a wall on which there are oysters fossilized for thousands of years

Later, we will have a stroll in the medieval town of  Saint Macaire : its city wall made out of limestone, its old gates.

To end, we will visit the lovely medieval town of La Réole, founded by the dominicains monks : its monastery, church, and old houses.
