The pearl of the tourism industry of Armenia is the Pagan Temple Garni. The temple was built in the 1st century AD by the king Tiridates the first. Garni Temple was destroyed in 1679 by a strong earthquake and after centuries of attempts at reconstruction, was hardly rebuilt in 1976, during the USSR.

The Geghard Monastery or Monastery of the Spear is one of the oldest Monasteries in the world, which is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The monastery was built in the 4th century, by St. Gregory the Illuminator.

In the resort city Tsaghkadzor is located the famous cable car and many other winter and summer activities. At the top where you will go, will open endless expanses of majestic mountain ranges.

The Lake Sevan is the largest lake in the Caucasus and one of the most visited sights in Armenia. Located in the Gegharkunik region, on the 1900 meters above sea level. On the peninsula, on a high hill, located famous Sevanavank Monastery, built in 874, by Princess Maryam.

Khor Virap Monastery is located in the Ararat region and is the birthplace of Christianity in Armenia. In ancient centuries, this was a prison where St. Gregory the Illuminator, the founder of Christianity in Armenia, was imprisoned for 13 years. Khor Virap is also the closest point to the legendary Mount Ararat, from where opens a fabulous view of the Biblical Mountain.

The village of Areni (in last Arpa) since ancient times has been considered as winemaking center of Armenia. Located in the Vayots Dzor region, in the valley of the Arpa River. Every year in October take place a wonderful wine festival, where various wine producers from all over the Republic gather and present their production.

Noravank Monastery (translated as New Monastery) was built in the 13th century and is one of the oldest and most famous Monasteries of Armenia. It is located on a slope near Areni, surrounded by its famous red hills. In 1996, there was an attempt to add the Monastery complex to the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Trip to the South: Khor Virap, Areni and Noravank Monastery

The Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex was built in 1967 in memory of the victims of the first genocide in the modern history of mankind, arranged by the Turks in 1915.

Victory Park began to be built from 1924, when it bore the name Arabkir, and after the World War Two it was renamed as Victory Park. There is also a magnificent statue of Mother Armenia, erected in 1967.

The next point of our excursion is the famous and majestic Cascade Monument. The construction project was laid back in 1924, by the legendary architect A. Tamanyan.

The 23 meters high Church of St. Sarkis is one of the most ancient churches in Yerevan, built in 1842. Saint Sarkis is considered as the symbol of lovers in Armenia.

The Republic Square began to be built in 1924 by the most famous architect of Armenia, Alexander Tamanyan, and was completed until 1977. An area of 30, 000 square meters of white and pink tuff is located the heart of modern Yerevan.

St. Gregory Church was built in 2001 and is the largest cathedral in Armenia.
