One day tour, Otaru Canal, glass making & Sakaimachi street
This tour offers some of the must-see spots in Otaru in a day.
We will use public transportation. If you have a JR Hokkaido Pass, please bring it with you.
Otaru is a romantic old port city, about 40-minute away from Sapporo. If you would like, you would make a glassware or Tombodama (small glass ball). It could be an accessory or a bookmark. We will walk around Otaru Canal area. Sakaimachi Street is lined with souvenir shops and sweets shops, like LeTao, Rokkatei, Kitakaro. Glassware shops carry soy sauce cruets, fancy goods and tumblers and plates, and there is a samurai goods shop. Music box shops sell a wide variety of music boxes including sushi-shaped ones. We could go to the ice cream shop which carries unusual ice cream, like sea urchin, potato butter, squid ink, and others. Or we could to go see glass making studio.

I thoroughly enjoyed the tour to Otaru during my trip to Hokkaido a few weeks ago. I normally do not get private tours, but I am so glad I did this time as I don't think I would have gotten the same experience otherwise. Miyuki is an incredibly professional, knowledgeable, warm soul. It was a long day, but I really enjoyed every part of it, and Miyuki gave me a lot of room to customize as we went, she really went above and beyond. As a girl who's cautious travelling solo, I felt really comfortable.
