A wonderful introduction to Tasmania's spectacular wilderness environment and extraordinary wildlife.

The picturesque journey to Mt Field is just as spectacular as the national park itself - you'll have views of rolling green hills and learn about townships that are steeped in history. You'll get amongst Tasmania's cool climate rainforests and magnificent waterfalls; walk the nature trails and stand beneath giant trees; you may see a Wallaby, an Echidna, an elusive Platypus or one of our colourful Robins along the way. Feel refreshed after breathing in the fresh forest air and replenish your energy with a delicious morning tea and scrumptious picnic lunch.

At Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, you can set eyes on endangered Tasmanian Devils, adorable Wombats, curious Emus, a moseying Echidna and hand-feed Kangaroos too. Be truly inspired by a dedicated team of wildlife carers and keepers as you learn about their incredible work to rescue, rehabilitate and release injured and orphaned Tasmanian wildlife - you may even see the work in action in their very own wildlife hospital.

Itinerary

We travel through the picturesque Derwent Valley, through the town of New Norfolk and pass hop fields, orchards and farmland along the way. Upon arrival, look for a platypus in the river while enjoying morning tea.

Continuing to Mt Field National Park you'll enjoy a leisurely nature walk to Russell Falls, Horseshoe Falls and Tall Trees Forest. How much walking you do will be up to you - there's an option to suit everyone.

Having walked up an appetite, enjoy a scrumptious picnic lunch featuring Tasmanian produce & sweet treats along with tea/coffee or juice.

After lunch we'll make our way to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary to hear amazing stories of endurance and survival of injured and orphaned native Tasmanian animals.

* This order of the attractions visited may be reversed.
