Underground/Subway Art Gallery private tour. A world of Art under Lisbon!
The construction of the Lisbon metro began on August 7, 1955, and the service was inaugurated on December 29, 1959. The initial subway was only 6. 5 km long and connected Baixa to the Zoo. During the 1980s, the circuit was built in the center of Lisbon and in 1995 the network was divided into lines: the Blue Line and the Yellow Line. In May 1998 a third line, the Red Line, was built to connect the Alameda station to the Expo 98 exhibition grounds.
The Lisbon metro network is currently linked to 55 stations and covers 46 kilometers (25 miles).
