Pick your catch at the Fish Market; explore the Palace, enjoy your catch for lunch!
A unique, private Palace Tour where you get to discover a living 1, 700 year-old city and enjoy a wonderful grilled lunch made with fish that we buy together! Under the watchful eye of my Russian wife (who loves fish more than ice cream!) we'll visit the city's bustling fish market to learn about Adriatic fish. Then, depending on what you like, we will buy the best and bring it to an authentic local konoba where it will be cooked to order after the walking program. After visiting the bustling fish market, we will tour the Palace and include off the beaten track experiences as well as the Cathedral, Jupiter's Temple and more. A visit to the 3rd oldest synagogue in Europe is included if you wish as well. An authentic immersion into the past and present of this remarkable edifice. We' ll end with a walk through the amazingly well preserved substructures before our lunch at a charming waterfront bistro. Includes professionally guided private Palace tour, lunch with salad and a glass of wine, all admissions.
We'll be introduced to our guide, then to the Fish Market, followed by our first "surprise" location (an ancient monastery and now the city's only Orthodox Christian church); quick stop at the city's only gourmet bakery; into the Pjaca, through the West Gate. . . inside the Palace now, meandering around to the Peristil, second surprise, the original street and sewerage system; preserved by UNESCO directive (it's inside a bank!) the inside the Cathedral, Jupiter's Temple; behind the Cathedral to the Emperor's living area; the Vestibul, quick peek into the hotel carved out of history; see the hidden West Wall; Jewish Synagogue (3rd oldest in Europe) if you wish; to the North gate, the small Papalic palace; into the basement to see how this amazing place stayed in one piece for all these years. Lunch!

Robert's tour of Split brought Diocletian's Palace to life, and our visit to the Ivan Mestrovic museum was a highlight of our ten-day cruise itinerary. But the best part of this day was Robert himself: he is a sophisticated, well-traveled, engaging man, and a wonderful companion on our visit to Split.
