Klis Fortress and the town of Sinj with a private local guide
During the long era of fighting Ottoman Empire these two places defined their roles in Croatian history. Few brave men opposed an immense army.
Klis deserved a title "the stronghold of Christianity" while Sinj got known for one of the most epic victories in our history. There is a unique knight's tournament taking place in Sinj, celebrating it. It's called "Alka" and has a long tradition (300 years). Recognising it's value, UNESCO protected this "game".
I will meet you at your location (hotel, cruise ship, Split old town etc. ). First we'll go to Klis (Sinj can be our first stop too, this is just a suggestion) and visit the fortress where brave Croatian soldiers resisted Ottoman attacks for two and a half decades. I'm going to show you it's highlights and tell you about it's history. The view over Split and the surrounding area from this location is as impressive and breathtaking as it's past.
After Klis we will continue our journey and go to Sinj. There I'll take you on a tour of the town and show you it's "hot spots". The plan is to also visit two places/things that are simbols of Sinj - the miraculous painting of Madonna in the Franciscan monastery and The Museum of Alka - for me, one of the most impressive museums in this part of Croatia.
At the end of our tour we'll go back to Split (about 30 minutes drive).
