Walking tour in Pozzuoli
The amazing Volcano Solfatara is stage of rare phenomena of secondary volcanism, with boiling mud, fumaroles, mineral waters and some amazing experiments. It is situated in the city of Pozzuoli, the ancient Roman "Puteoli", which was the commercial port of Imperial Times. The Amphitheatre of Pozzuoli: (closed on Tuesdays) is a huge structure once used for gladiator shows and venationes (beasts and gladiators fights), it is the third in size of its kind all over the Roman Empire. The underground passageways are well preserved. And the Tempio di Serapide or Pozzuoli's Macellum is the Roman food market, thermometer of the volcanic phenomenon of bradyseism.
We'll meet at the Metro Line2 stop in Pozzuoli, we'll walk a while, 15 mn upwards, to the Volcano Solfatara, 1 hour tour there. We'll walk down to the Amphitheatre, 1 hour tour, and then we'll reach the port of Pozzuoli, where there's the Temple of Serapis, the fish market and many nice restaurants.
