A great introduction to the city's charms

The Central Market of Valencia is the largest covered market in Europe. It is open from 8am-2pm so for morning tours we always begin here, as early as you wish so as to have the opportunity to breakfast at Michelin Star Chef Ricard Camarena's breakfast bar in the Central Market if you wish (not expensive but authentic and simple). After taking in the beauty and functionality of this modernist masterpiece and perhaps a Spanish potato omelette preparative, the tour will give you a taste of Valencia's history. It could include the stunning silk market building, Roman, Moorish and Jewish confluences, alchemic and Sufi history or medieval glories and emblematic Catholic sites and relics. The tour is flexible according to the interests of my guests. It will be a busy morning or afternoon of sightseeing so lunch or dinner can be included. If desired we head to the 'huerta' fringing Valencia for a farmhouse lunch or dinner before heading back to the port.

After our meeting at the port, we will do a drive by the America's cup port area and front line of the beach. We head into town and continue the tour on foot, starting at the Central Market if it is a morning tour.

The must-see monuments are the following:
Silk Market - Lonja
Valencia's Sistine Chapel - San Nicolas
Historic street walk, including a visit to a renaissance or gothic palace, perhaps the Borja Valencian residence.
Cathedral and stunning Plaza of the Virgin.
The Miguelete, Plaza Redonda, Europe's narrowest building.
Stop for tapas somewhere in there and lunch or dinner
as per group's interests.

If desired, we can head to a farmhouse restaurant in the 'huerta' gardens that fringe the city or stay in the center of town and select from the huge range of bars or restaurants for tapas or a real meal. Drop off can be back in the port or in town.

For afternoon tours on Tuesdays or Thursdays, I can arrange tickets for a very authentic flamenco show that goes from 10-11pm and book a taxi back to port.

Meeting Location + Tour Duration

Meeting location: Pick up at the terminal at Valencia Port.

End location: The tour ends at the port terminal.

Duration: 5 hours

This is a tour that will take up about 5 hours of time, and can be adjusted. It can be started in the afternoon, please consult the options with me as the tour can be customized as a an afternoon tour and gourmet dinner experience also.

Transport is by private car. A minivan for up to 10 people with professional driver can be arranged also, this can be more economical on a per person basis.

What’s Included

Professional Guide with real insider knowledge.
Private transportation up to 4 people: pick up and drop offs at tourist sites and lunch venue. Please consult prices for larger groups and luxury cars can also be organised for very special outings.

Estimated Local Cash Needed

40 euros - At the very most breakfast will cost 7 euros pp. I like to estimate around 25 euros for lunch, but there are much more economical options, just ask me. Nonetheless, a 25 euros budget in Valencia assures you of maximum quality, freshness and fanciness and includes wine from excellent local labels. Entry tickets to extra monuments will be no more than 12 euros.

What’s Extra

Lunch, dinner or drink and tapa stops will be paid on the spot.
Entrance to any extra monuments not included, this could be
5 euros for the Cathedral and Holy Grail, 4 euros to climb the Miguelete tower for anyone wishing to see the town from up high who wants to do a little work on their legs, 2 euros for the Roman history exhibit, a really remarkable display that nothing like a typical museum, 2 euros to climb the spectacular old city wall fortifications... Valencia is very reasonable when it comes to visiting monuments. These are world-class tourist sites with far below average costs for visiting them.
