An unique private excursion for cruise ship passengers
St Emilion is a unique trip destination. Of course, you think immediatly about wine which is world wide famous but Saint Emilion is also an exceptionnal medieval village built at the top of a rocky limestone promontory.
St Emilion area was the first one to be listed as a cultural landscape by the UNESCO including the village and the surrounding vineyards in 1999!
Welcome to the merlot world ! This area is the best suited to grow the merlot grapes. Most of the Saint Emilion wines will be merlot-dominated.
The whole underground of Saint Emilion has been dug to extract the limestone then sold to built the surroundings and today those galleries are used by some lucky owners to age their wines !
I will also take you to the village, through the narrow, cobbled and steep streets. . . You will discover an exceptional undergroung place : the largest monolithic church in Europe that we access through a gallery of catacombs !
Let yourself be guided through this wonderful village and discover a part of its secrets!

Marie went out of her way to share St. Emillion and its underground monuments. We experienced a wine tasting at a family run vineyard and shared a picnic lunch (all prearranged) at a little restaurant. She also drove us around Bordeaux so we could get our bearings and even helped us buy tram tickets to use the next day. Marie is an extremely knowledgeable guide and could get the keys to the underground monolithic church so we could experience it without crowds! It was an an amazing day.
