Selous Game Reserve, is one of the world's biggest game reserve. Its located southern of Dare-salaam.
Some of the typical animals of the savanna like elephants, hippopotamus, African Wild Dogs, Buffaloes and crocodiles can be found in this park in larger numbers than in any other African game reserve or national park. Selous contains about one third of all wild dogs (often called painted dogs), in the world. Other resident of Selous are Gazelles, Zebras, Lions, Leopards and more than 120 varieties of birds . In Selous, we can see all the Big5 except Rhino.
1hr flight from Dar es salaam or Zanzibar.
Day1: Upon your arrival at Mtemere air strip, meet and greet and check in to your hotel, then proceed for the Boat Safari to see Hippos, Crocks, Birds and animals which came to fill their bellies for the day. Dinner and overnight at Hippo Lodge or simiral.
Day2: Early morning breakfast, then proceed for your full day game drive to see this diversity of plain filled with wildlife stocks, until late afternoon. Dinner and over nite at Hippo Lodge or simiral.
Day3: Full day of game drive, dinner and over-nite at the Hippo lodge or similar.
Day4: After breakfast, with an armed Ranger, will do a Walking Safari, no Simba (Lion) no Chui (Leopard)! before your flight back to Dar es salaam or Zanzibar.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: I will organize a pick up to/fro airport and I will welcome you at airstrip in Selous if we will not drive together with the Jeep across the villages tour en route to Selous.
End location: For your experience, we can drive to or from Selous or you can fly one way or you can fly both ways, we have to arrange this before the Safari.
Duration: 4 days
Selous Game Reserve can be reached by Road, Train and by Air all year around, will be some more adventurous during rainy season when using road all the way.
Flying to Selous from Zanzibar/Dar is about 55mnts, and driving from Dar is circa 6hrs
