Discover stunning Glen Nevis and take an easy ride up a mountain

Fort William and the surrounding area of Lochaber is known as the Outdoor Capital of the United Kingdom making it perfect for those wanting to explore the Highlands. During this tour take your time to enjoy the Scottish Highlands by exploring the countryside around Britain's highest mountain - Ben Nevis.

Glen Nevis, part of a National Scenic Area, is a long glen stretching around the lower slopes of Ben Nevis. The river tumbles through the glen in a series of waterfalls, the most impressive is the Steall Fall tumbling 120 metres in a single drop. The walk there threads through a wooded gorge with the river crashing below.

A complete contrast is the gondola ride up the mountainside at Nevis Range. The mountain walks along clear paths take you to fantastic viewpoints of the surrounding area. You can marvel at the mountain bikers as they set off downhill on the World Championship trail. And then sit back with a well-earned hot chocolate (or beer) and enjoy the view.

Itinerary

Scenic drive along beautiful Glen Nevis with views of Britain's highest mountain - Ben Nevis.

Photo stop at the Wishing Stone. Will you dare to circle it three times to make your wish?

Photo stop at the Ben Nevis Visitor Centre to view the glen from the new bridge across the River Nevis.

Walk through the dramatic Nevis Gorge leading to an alpine-like meadow and the Steall Falls. You might recognise the waterfalls as the background for the Tri-Wizard Tournament in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. (Maximum 2 hours walking time).

Ascend by mountain gondola to the slopes of Aonach Mor for extensive views across the Scottish Highlands.

Spend some time in the Snowgoose Restaurant enjoying the views over coffee and cake.

Enjoy the mountain atmosphere and scenery by taking the short hiking trails to viewpoints. (Total walking time for both hikes 1 hour and 45 minutes).

A Recent Review of this tour

Spending the day with Andrew was like visiting with an old friend. He took us to all the places on our list of "must sees". He also included some sights he though we would enjoy- which we did. I could not believe when he offered to drive us to our next destination. He picked us up at our B&B in Aviemore and dropped us off at the guest house we were staying at in Edinburgh!
