Founded in 1733, Savannah is one of the thirteen original British colonies that would go on to form the United States of America. Our founder, James Oglethorpe, was a visionary who built the city on a plan that is not found any where else in the country , and is highlighted by our many squares.
Set on the coast of Georgia, our subtropical location gives the city a unique beauty. Savannah is like an ageless Grande Dame, with an allure that beckons you to come see her, and perhaps, discover some of her many hidden secrets.
It's a city that's easy to fall in love with. I have been giving historic walking tours for several years. And no matter what tour I give, our guests always want to see more.
Savannah tells her own story. She is steeped in history (Colonial, Antebellum, Civil War and beyond), has been host to over a hundred movies, and home to many great schools and restaurants. Savannah has a story or two for everyone. Not to mention a wonderful experience.
My name is Andrew, and having studied history in college, there is no place I'd rather be than in this magical city. I have had the pleasure to give hundreds of tours on many themes and topics. And, what I have found is that Savannah tells her own stories. I've done the research to make sure my tours are historically accurate.
My goal is to always relate them in a way that is fun and entertaining, while sneaking in some education and learning. I love giving Private Walking Tours, because we have each other to ourselves. We set the pace and agenda together.
So, let me introduce you to Savannah. It's one of the greatest and most beautiful cities in the world. I would love to show her to you.
A Recent Review of this guide
We spent an incredible and interesting morning with Andrew. Although we were meeting at the Greene statue in Johnson Square, Andrew made sure we could find parking before hand. Andrew is knowledgeable, funny and engaging with a broad knowledge base to share. He tailored the tour to us and was quick to modify the plan if we had questions or wanted to check something out. We learned so much about Savannah and the Squares and the interesting people who contributed to the area. Great Job!
