A quick overview to get you started
Brief stay? Impatient children (or teenagers)? Take this short tour to get a handle on Savannah's basic history and for an opportunity to collect recommendations from me. We can start at your hotel (depending on its location) and end wherever you like: at a museum, a lunch spot, an art gallery. What time we start is also up to you. Enjoy Savannah at your convenience and still have plenty of hours left in the day to shop, eat, and be merry!
We will enjoy a leisurely stroll at your convenience, focusing the tour on whatever topic interests you most: the Civil War, the Revolution, Black history, etc. We may also duck inside certain attractions that are open to the public such as the Lucas Theatre, Savannah Theatre, or the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. I do not cancel for bad weather- I leave that decision up to you. I am happy to wait a while and see if conditions improve before rescheduling or canceling a tour. A sturdy umbrella and good shoes are usually sufficient to deal with a light rain.
Meeting Location + Tour Duration
Meeting location: I am happy to start the tour from virtually any hotel from River Street to Gwinnett Street and from MLK Blvd. to East Broad St., including the Residence Inn (500 Charlton St.) and the Marriott Riverfront. If you are staying in some other part of town, we can arrange to rendezvous within the Historic District- details to be decided upon booking.
End location: I can circle the tour back around to your hotel or we can end at some other location, if you like. You might want to grab lunch, a drink, do some shopping, or tour a historic home.
Duration: 2 hours
The duration is not necessarily exact. If you have any reservations to keep or other time constraints, please let me know at the beginning of the tour so I do not ramble on too long.
Walking at a leisurely pace
Various attractions are free and open to the public. Depending on their visiting hours and the route we cover, we might take a look inside
- the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist
- the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension
- the Lucas Theatre
- Savannah Theatre
I am not licensed to conduct tours from within a vehicle.
I have access to public historical spaces, but not private homes or house museums.
All of my tours take place within the Landmark Historic District.

A blast indeed. A tour with Bonnie provides an amazing amount of information that surpassed our historical knowledge. Using the 22 squares as the backdrop we learned so much about the city and the early leaders. The two hours past so quickly we didn't want it to end.
