Santiago is the capital city of Chile founded in 1541 by the spanish conquistador Pedro de Valdivia. After centuries Santiago represents today one of the most beautiful cities in Southamerica. Center of the most important bussiness, social and political activities in the region.
Our tour takes you into a trip through history. We visit the presidential palace, center of the political life of Chile. Here is where our president works, then we walk to Plaza de Armas, here Santiago was laid out the the spanish conquistadores in 1551. In this plaza we will visit the most important catholic church which construction began in 1748.
After a visit to the old part of the city we go to the modern business and residential area of Santiago named Vitacura and las Condes.
Other very interesting district that we visit is Bellavista. The most bohemian, artistic and cultural barrio in town.
The tour last 4 hours approximately. We do part of it walking and part of it in the van
We will begin our tour at the Main square where Santiago was laid out but the spanish conquistador Pedro de Valdivia, then we walk few blocks to arrive at the presidential palace where the president of Chile works. This is a very interesting colonial spanish building used originally to manufacture gold coins that is the reason of the name La moneda(the mint). From this point we drive along the main avenue of Santiago named Alameda towards Santa Lucia hill another historical spot in the city where it was built a fort to protect the city. After we visit the hill we drive to bellavista district , a very colorful cultural barrio, full of restaurants, local artists, some art galleries and so on. Finally after bellavista we drive to the modern residential and business district in Santiago where the main characteristic is the great mixture of new buildings and mountains.
