Your local guide will reveal the secrets of Austrian's Christmas traditions and the history of Salzburg on a walking tour through the historic center.
Enjoy a walk through the Salzburger Christmas Market, visit other famous historical sites and learn about local traditions or listen to a choir in front of the cathedral.
This tour is for all who are interested in the history of Salzburg and want to know more about Salzburg or the Silent Night Song which was performed almost 200 years ago for the first time.
The smell of Glühwein or warm local food and the unique decorations of the Residence square will get you into a Christmas spirit.

Starting a walking tour at the Residence square you will walk with your guide through the Salzburg Christmas Market and learn how the market developed, find traditional gifts and crafts made in Austria. On the way to the Salzburger Dom you will smell the Glühwein and hot potatoes or Gulasch from the food stands. Inside the Salzburger Dom you will get historical information about the Dom and also see the nativity scene and the babtismal from Amadeus Mozart and Joseph Mohr who wrote the lyrics to Silent Night, Holy Night. Listen to some interesting historical facts about the nativity scene and the song Silent Night. Continue the walk to St. Peters District where you will find a big christmas wreath and a small hidden Christmas Market. Michaela was a fantastic guide. Her in-depth knowledge of Salzburg and the history around Christmas in Austria is superb. She was very patient with us and answered all of our questions. She is a true professional with whom I would tour with again.
