4-hour tour to Sachsenhausen in a minivan or coach
Sachsenhausen was the center of the whole concentration camp system used from 1936 to the end of the Third Reich in May 1945. More than 200, 000 people were imprisoned in the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp between 1936 and 1945. Tens of thousands of people died of starvation, disease, forced labor and mistreatment.
The remaining buildings and grounds are now open to the public as a memorial and museum. Thirteen exhibitions on different sites examine the particular history of each and link it to a thematic presentation that sets it in a wider context.
During our visit of Sachsenhausen Memorial I will show you different authentic sites and explain how the Nazi terror escalated. By visiting different exhibitions we will see how the Nazis treated people corresponding to different categories in the camp - like "Jews", "Homosexuals", "Antisocials" or "Political Prisoners".
We will also talk about the aftermath of the camp and about how difficult it is for Germany to come to terms with its history.
Sachsenhausen is outside Berlin - driving to/from Sachsenhausen is about one hour - time for visit of Sachsenhausen memorial is therfore about 2 hours.
