Experience the highlights of the Istrian peninsula through its largest towns
A perfect way of discovering the icons of Istria: Pula with its rich Roman heritage and Rovinj with its medieval flair. Both of these cities were THE place to be in Istria, but in differents points in time.
Pula was the largest and most important urban settlement in Istria in roman times- as a witness of its former grandeur we have the amphitheatre, gates as well as the Emperor Augustus's temple. Then, ravaged by plague epidemics and war it became a very small village in the Middle Ages when, roughly at the same time, we will have the birth of a city on an island- Rovinj. In the middle ages Rovinj was the most prosperous settlement in Istria, attracting merchants from all over the Mediterranean. This discovery of the Istrian peninsula is what will make you want for more- the olive oil experience and lecture is the cherry that completes our day. You will surely get close to being an expert in roman architecture, medieval politics as well as poly-saturated fatty acids by the end of the day.
