Romanesque cathedral of Ribe in a the medieval town with a private guide
In this the oldest town of Denmark, you'll feeel the thrill when walking down the narrow, cobble stone roads from the middle ages. This little town was the stage of a lot of stories from Danish history; eg the story about princess Dagmar coming from Bohemia to marry the Danish king, the story about the last witch being burned in 1641, the story about the vikings having their trading post at the riverside and the story about the numerous floods in this low terrain of the Wadden Sea.
The marvelous romanesque cathedral of Ribe overlooks the medieval town and holds two graves of Danish kings plus the paintings and mosaics by the famous artist, Carl Henning Pedersen from the 1980'es. We walk up the tower for a beautiful view over the marshland.
We visit the great museum, Ribes Vikinger, located on the site of the viking trading post from around year 700.
Visit cathedral plus walking up the tower for a beautiful view. (NOTE: If cathedral is closed because of weddings etc. we visit the Saint Catharina Church instead)
Visit at the museum Ribes Vikinger. (Entrance fee not included. Museum closed on Mondays from November to March)
Walk around the medieval town passing monestary and sluice etc. Coffee stop, if you want, at own cost.
When open, we also visit the old town hall from late 1400 with an exhibition from the old Ribe Court.

I want to give Poul Erik a 5 out of 5 rating for his tours of Jelling & Ribe. They were full of interesting historical information & it really enriched my experience of Denmark! My grandfather was born near Jelling so I appreciated his research & customizing the tour to include that - it made it even more special!
