Absolutely a fantastic tour thanks to a very knowledgeable guide! We learned so much and had a wonderful time. We recommend Ellen very highly. Not only does she know Washington DC inside and out but she is also very pleasant socially.

Ellen was a superb tour guide! She was friendly, very knowledgeable and graciously designed the tour to match our requests. She was particularly aware of our 10 year old grandson's interests. After a short while, we felt like Ellen had been our friend for years. I am delighted that Tours by Locals matched us with Ellen! We would definitely request Ellen again.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thanks! Great family!

Ellen is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Washington DC. We got along well. Her tour was thorough. She guided through the gauntlet that is the Capitol building, Supreme Ct., Arlington, Nat'l Archives, and on, all the while providing just the right level of fascinating historical details. She guided us for two days. I don't give 5 starts very often. When I return to Washington DC for sightseeing (and there is too much to see) I will ask her guide us again.

I hired Ellen for a 5-hour tour with me and my 16-year old exchange daughter from Germany, and we had a very full morning of major sites and memorials. She kept us entertained with great information throughout and even helped us get tickets for the African-American History Museum (which are almost impossible to get through normal channels). She had good recs for restaurants too.

This was our second tour with Ellen following a half day April 18. We went North from downtown to to 3 wonderful sites: Kreeger Art Museum; National Cathedral; and Hillwood estate. All very different except for Ellen's knowledge at each. We learned so much. By the time we parted, we said goodbye to a very good friend!

Ellen is a true historian and lover of the architectural and cultural aspects of Washington DC. We were a group of six and spent the entire day with this woman visiting the National Archives, Library of Congress, Arlington Memorial the 9/11 Monument along with a great lunch at the Old Ebbitt Grille. The time spent walking, writing, talking and learning was worth its weight in gold. We look forward to doing it again and recommend him any of our friends on this fine tour of our country's capital.

Ellen is extremely knowledgeable and she loves what she does. We spent 2 days with her and consider her a friend. There is undoubtedly other good tour guides but we can assure you Ellen will be our first request when we come back to DC.

Anyone lucky enough to get Ellen will get a once in a lifetime experience. Highly knowledgable, great personsonality. She knows the DC area. She really wants you to see what you want to see, and to get the histoty out of each place we went.
