Christine had arranged for her brother Leo to show us around Hualien and the Taroko Gorge National Park. He was very personable, knowledgeable about the park and knew exactly where we should walk to get the best views and photos. However, he was not familiar with the city, could not find a place for lunch, and did not know where the large marble factory was, that we wanted to see.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Taroko is a national park, with one hotel and some local food stalls - so unfortunately no specific western meals at the moment you requested it. The 'marble factory' is a mainland Chinese tourist bus shopping trap - best not to see.
TOURSBYLOCALS RESPONSE: From speaking to Christine, we understand that the Eisenberg's were looking for specific food and shopping options. We've asked Christine to update the 'Booking Question' section of the tour pages so as to capture specific requirements in advance of the tour.
