AMAZING. We have been to Rome, Naples, Florence, Cinque Terre, and Venice on this trip and the bike tour with Carlo is at the very top of our list! The town of Lucca is so charming, and seeing it through Carlo's eyes and through his stories truly could not have been better. I was almost in tears(of joy-and I am NOT a crier!) at one point during the tour as he told us about the history of Lucca comparing the scene to the Lord of Rings movies as we made a stop during our bike ride on the walls of Lucca.

TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Wow Grazie! you are too kind, I'm so glad you enjoyed the tour and the city Ciao Carlo

Carlo is fantastic. What a great afternoon we spent with him. He is incredibly knowledgeable of Lucca as a long time resident, and a human encyclopedia of history and knowledge. His appreciation of art and his love of his city infuse the entire tour. Carlo begins by asking what you want to see and tailors the visit to meet your expectations. We are regular TBL customers and Carlo is one of the best we've ever had. He will make you love Lucca and you'll leave feeling a little jealous you can't stay!

TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thanks for every single word of your comment. Too kind! Hope to see you again. Ciao Carlo

Carlo was an amazing tour guide! The tour was a lot of fun and very informative. Carlo really knows the history of the area and has a lot of personal stories from World War 11. We really enjoyed his tour and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Lucca area. Getting to go into the World War 11 bunkers was a highlight! Thank you Carlo!

Carlo was awesome. He helped me with the payment the morning of the tour. It took a while because I was not able to do it the day before - technical problems with the website I guess. He told us the history of Lucca which we loved. He told us about the walls and how they were built to help against attacks. The churches are beautiful, towers. We learned about the silk trade and went to 1 of the 3 remaining shops that have a loom. We love Lucca and hope to return some day. The tour was great. Thanks, Carlo

TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you very much, I’m glad you enjoy the tour and the city of Lucca. Hope to see you here again! Ciao Carlo

Having Carlo as my tour guide was like strolling around Lucca with a good friend. I was able to feel the "soul" of Lucca as Carlo took me to all the various historical interests. The tour was well paced, with the right amount of pauses to take it all in, before moving on to the next point of interest. All information was conveyed in a conversational style that made it easy absorb, and remember! I came away from this tour very happy and excited about Lucca. Thank you Carlo!

TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you Rosalba, you are so kind! Ciao Carlo

Carlo is a very knowledgable local guide. We enjoyed our tour of the WWII bunkers and countryside so much that we booked an additional half day with Carlo for a 2nd tour the following day! We appreciated the tremendous amount of pride Carlo takes in his job and in his heritage and country. We highly recommend Carlo as a local guide!

TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Grazie Caryl, I'm very glad you enjoy the tour. Thank you for your words! Ciao Carlo

A great tour for those that really appreciate WW2 history. Carlo and his friend did an excellent job to show us some out of the way place along the Gothic Line. I really appreciate their efforts to preserve this history for us. They were both very knowledgeable and helpful in all respects. Took their time and explained the basics to my wife and the details to me. Carlo's personal connection to this history helps make a connection.

TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you Leland ciao Carlo

Our tour of the fortifications of the Gothic Line at Borgo A Mozzano with Carlo P. was absolutely outstanding. His knowledge of the area and history combined with his warm and approachable manner made him the perfect tour guide. It is seldom that you meet someone who is as passionate and yet so accessible about their hobby/vocation. Thank you for such a fantastic end to tour our Battlefield tour of Italy.

TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you Nigel and all of you of the Battlefield. It was a pleasure for me to visit the Gothic Line with you. I learned, I worked and I had fun. I really appreciate the book you gave me, very interesting and useful. Ciao Carlo

Carlo gave us a fabulous tour of Lucca upon our arrival in Tuscany. My husband and our two small boys enjoyed the tour immensely and recommended Carlo and Lucca to many friends. We had an excellent tour of the Gothic Line in Tuscany, thanks to the enthusiasm of Carlo & his very kind colleague from the museum in Borgo a Mozzano. I'm writing a novel based in the area, and Carlo was extremely helpful in tailoring the tour to suit my research needs, taking time to answer questions, explain the history and geography of the area, and leading us into secret bunkers and spaces that we'd never otherwise have seen. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Italy

TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you Karen, very kind. Best wishes for your novel! ciao Carlo

Carlo is extremely knowledgable about both the local area & the Gothic Line, speaks fluent English, & has a genuine enthusiasm & passion for the subject. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour, which was filled with many anecdotes that only a true local would know. This tour is a must for anybody interested in history, military, and the impact of war on local communities. It also includes a visit to a spectacular 1000-yr-old bridge! We will definitely be hiring Carlo to show us around Lucca on our next visit....

TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you very much. I'm so glad you enjoyed the tour. ciao Carlo

Carlo was diligent in setting up our meeting at the train station. He provided an excellent balance of information on the history of the town and modern town life. We stopped at a cafe in the Piazza Napoleone for coffee and a selection of local pastries, were introduced to the statue of Puccini and got the background on the town walls, the Roman amphitheatre and the wartime Resistance, finishing at a restaurant where Carlo got us the chef's recommendations on what we should have for lunch.

TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you very much! Ciao Carlo
