Thank you to James/ Jim for a superb tour! James/ Jim is an excellent guide - what he doesn't know about the area is not worth knowing, and also an excellent host - anything you need he'll sort! Totally recommended when you are in the area!
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Simon, thank you for your kind words. I thoroughly enjoyed showing you the Twin Cities and the St. Croix River. I also appreciated your adventuresome spirit in letting me take you to places I had never taken a traveler before. And I look forward to taking you on more adventures upon your return to Minnesota. In the meantime, travel well. Jim

TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: It was great fun showing Alex and his wife around Minneapolis. They were interested and engaged. And they were willing to let me take them a bit afield from time to time — which I appreciated.

Jim provided a great tour and relevant information the Minneapolis area. We enjoyed the 3 hours with him and encourage others to utilize his services when considering a tour.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Kevin, thank you for the kind words. I hope you and Sue enjoyed the rest of your stay in Minneapolis. Jim
James D is an excellent guide. He arrived on time to pick us up, and spent far more time with us than expected. He is very careful about his guests needs and interests. After he knew I was an achitect he told me I should have told him that before, so he could focus the tour on that subject. Trying a last hour shift to solve that, he showed us a wonderful house by FLWrigt, and some very nice buildings in downtown Mpolis. After the tour he e-mailed me w/ lots of additional information. Highly recomended!
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Mr. Brandao, the pleasure was all mine. When you return to Minnesota, I would be delighted to show you the architectural gem that is our State Capitol as well as the many "Gilded Age" homes along Summit Avenue in St. Paul. Thanks again. Jim

Jim was more than we could have hoped for. With only one day in Minneapolis & 5 senior women to navigate, he was able to plan an all day itinerary that encompassed all the back and forth of several e-mails of custom planning. Jim is knowledgeable about the history, topography, geography & architecture of the city......much more than we never thought we would learn in such a short stay. Highly recommended even if you have friends or relatives in the area. Even they will learn something new!
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Beverly, Thank you for your kind words. I greatly enjoyed showing you and your delightful friends around the cities, and I deeply appreciated your and their willingness to visit several interesting but off-the-beaten-path parts of the cities. In response to your question about why Somali refugees came to Minnesota, it appears that, when war broke out in Somalia in 1990, refugees were placed where local volunteer agencies ("Volags") made the best offer. Minnesota Volags stepped up. Thanks again. Jim

My tour with Jim was outstanding. He was on time, helped with my luggage, and had a perfect itinerary. His knowledge of history, architecture, and the perfect scenic routes was impressive. I have given him 5 stars and would recommend him to anyone desiring a tour in the St. Paul area.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Jette, Thank you for your kind words. I enjoyed our tour as well. In answer to your question during the tour, the sculpture that you photographed at Indian Mounds Park is entitled "The Sacred Bowl," and the sculptor is Duane "Dewey" Goodwin, a Minnesota-based, Native American artist. Thanks again. Jim

Jim's tour was outstanding. Informative, interesting, interactive, adaptive to our interests and fun for anyone interested in the history and sites of the Twin Cities. The Capitol at St. Paul is a must see. Jim is a passionate Twin-Cities-lorian and historian with a very interesting background story.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: John, it was a complete pleasure to show you and your party around the cities, and I am delighted to hear that you all enjoyed it as well. Thanks. Jim

Jim did an awesome job showing us (who are locals!) and our out of town guests some of the great sites of Minneapolis/St. Paul, including the Mississippi River. He was very receptive to questions and comments, and very knowledgeable about the cities. We only wish we had more time to spend with him. We will certainly ask him again, because there are so many things we didn't get to this time!
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Alice, I, too, had a great time yesterday, and I would jump at the chance to show you and Ed (and guests) more parts of the Cities (see, e.g., today's StarTribune at pp. E1 and E6, sacred spots of the Dakota). Thanks again. Jim

Jim was an articulate and knowledgeable guide, and was kind enough to tailor the tour to the needs of my elderly mother. We only had a few short hours in Minneapolis- St. Paul and Jim definitely made us want to come back. He drove an immaculate new car, and was attentive and informative. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Glenn and Barbara, Thank you for your kind words. I enjoyed showing you and your friends the cities, and I am delighted to read that you enjoyed the tour as well. As to my car, it is in fact six years old and has over 130,000 miles on it. But I have taken good care of it. In Minnesota, if you take good care of your car, come winter, it will take good care of you. As it happens, I have recently ordered a new car. So when you return, I will indeed have a new car to carry us around. Thanks again. Jim
