Hakan definitely puts the personal touch on his tour. His command of the English language painted a very vivid picture of Ephesus. We had a delicious Turkish lunch and tour of a school where women are weaving in the traditional way of making the glorious carpets. The afternoon was made extra special as we wandered through a small village where locals sold their handicrafts and shared some apple tea. He made history and traditions come to life. Hakan was very good and made our visit to Ephesus a very rewarding one. Make sure you visit the Terrace Houses you won't be disappointed. Hakan took us to a great place for lunch and then we visited a carpet warehouse. It was really interesting, but be warned you will get to see many carpets. The day was really well organised and we had no problems.

4.5 STARS Hakan is an extremely friendly, knowledgable guide. I enjoyed the tours of Ephesus and other sites very much. He speaks English very well. He accounted for the heat (100+), and paced the tours appropriately. The only downside to the tour was subtle pressure to visit rug and ceramic workshops. My wife and I made it clear we had no interest in either (been there, done that), but Hakan was persistent and I had to say no repeatedly before he gave up. Only blemish on an otherwise great tour.

TOURSBYLOCALS RESPONSE: We've spoken to Hakan about Mr. Curatolo's comment regarding shopping. He didn't intend to make him feel pressured and felt he was just responding to a request for a recommendation. When requested, Hakan suggests visiting small factories owned by villagers so as to help support their families.
