Stanley is more a person taking tourists to preagreed destinations than a proper tour guide. Not informative, knows very little about history, society, art, etc. When taking the client to a museum and walking with the client through the museum he prefers chatting to the driver instead of explaining the displays. For lunch, we invited him to our table (to speak and learn about food), he refused and preferred to sit with other drivers/tour guides.

TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Hi mr.jacques. im very sory that you're not satisfied with my service as a guide. it motivates me to work better in the future and upgrade my guiding skill. unfortunetaly the ship arrived late and you ask to skip the lunch and back at ship earlier, i think if we didn't skip lunch (in one of the best restaurant in town) you will know that ive prepared something special for my client that makes the tour worth. and we have energy to continue visit another destinations and . Please accept my apology.thanks
Very interesting tour. We were on a cruise and preferred private rather than ship's excursion. First time with ToursByLocals, certainly not last. All was smooth and we loved the Indonesian food on local restaurant. Guide was A1.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you mr.yves gagner

We saw the Tobacco Museum, the flower market, the beautiful Dutch Colonial Historical Majapahit Hotel, a Catholic Church, shopping at a local store, a panoramic drive through of the city, & a huge & delicious Indonesian lunch at a local restaurant (the highlight). It was nice to be able to do exactly what we wanted to do. We were a little tired of seeing temples at this at this point in our cruise. Stanley was late arriving, we waited about 20 minutes for him as he was stuck in traffic driving to the port

Stanley's English was a little difficult to understand at times and he should make an effort to learn more facts about Surabaya and Indonesia, in general. However, the tour with him was very informative considering that Surabaya is limited in its distinctions. We saw the cigarette factory and learned about its history and drove through neighborhoods we could never have discovered on our own. The restaurant he chose for our Indonesian lunch was perfect, as was the food he selected for us.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: THank You.

Stanley picked us up on time just outside the new cruise ship terminal. Highlights of our afternoon tour were walking through the Arab Quarter and market where Stanley bought us some exotic fruits to try, driving around Surabaya to see historic buildings, and eating a traditional, delicious Indonesian lunch. We did not have a lot of time in Surabaya but we felt our tour with Stanley gave us a good overview of the city. Stanley spoke English quite well, so we would definitely recommend his tour.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you
