Koji-san was a fantastic guide! Him and I spent the entire day together seeing as much of Kyoto as we possibly could. He was able to modify the program on the fly to allow me to see more of Kyoto as our schedule and path saw fit. Koji's knowledge of Kyoto is unmatched. He knows of every secret street and viewpoint. I wish I could retain as much information as he shared with me. I whole-heartedly recommend any tour with Koji as he truly loves his work. I now consider Koji a friend. Thank you!
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Hi Joe-san! I also enjoyed my favorite very intensive tour with you and I am so glad I made friend with you. Can’t wait to see the photos you took yesterday. Looking forward to it! Koji

Koji is an enthusiastic tour guide. It was a whole day tour but he was very accommodating with our requests since we had a baby with us. He provided necessary facts and history about Kyoto. The tour was informative, places were arranged accordingly for easier transport and of course, it was enjoyable since Kyoto is indeed a must visit. And it is best to choose Koji as your tour guide.

Koji is a fun and knowledgeable guide. He was very accommodating and patient with us seniors. We never did feel rushed when we stopped at the little shops or for a cup of coffee. He made sure we all had a great time and returned us back safely to our hotel.
We had an amazing day in Kyoto with Koji. He was so knowledgeable and answered all of our questions so willingly. Koji did a great job keeping our teenagers happy and engaged throughout the tour - we would never have seen so much of the city on our own. He managed all of our various transport arrangements leaving us to relax and enjoy it all. At the end of our day, he helped us select an excellent restaurant for dinner and even seen us to our table. We only wish we could take him with us to Tokyo!

Koji was an amazing guide. We really could not have asked for a better experience. He met us at our hotel and we were off on foot to visit the markets and sites. Along the way he stopped at points of interest and added lots of information about Japanese customs and history. He made it clear that we were free to ask him anything we were curious about. The day was jam packed and we saw so much of Kyoto always feeling that Koji had a plan in mind and wanted to make our experience memorable. We loved it!

We had a great time touring Kyoto with Koji. Although he had specific places to show us, he allowed us to make adjustments based on our preferences. Koji was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and energetic but best of all he loves his job and his city. If you are considering a walking tour of Kyoto (including use of public transportation), I would highly recommend using Koji as your guide. He is the best!

Overview: 5/5 stars. Two thumbs up. Don't look any further for the best tour guide in Kyoto! Koji is an energetic, kind and knowledgeable guide, who showed me (solo female traveler) >10 places in one day. He knows all about the historical sites, and points out cool back alley features. Without him, I would not have the depth of knowledge regarding the city, and the context to see the sights in Kyoto as most places don't have English translation. I would recommend him to anyone without reservation.
Koji is a very knowledgeable guide. He was very sensitive to our needs and he fully respected our wishes / plans of the day. He made the day trip very enjoyable for us and for our 8 year old daughter . He is taking pride in showing Kyoto to tourists and he will take you to all the important sites. There are things we would have missed if we were by ourselves . He pointed out details we would not know otherwise. Strongly recommended for your vacation.

Koji is wonderful! He is all one could hope for in a tour guide - knowledgeable, kind, and accommodating. He met us at our car on the train and (after determining our priorities) took us to see (in 1 day) several beautiful Shrines and Temples (including the Golden Pavilion), the ethereal bamboo forest, the exquisite Okochi Sanso home and garden of the Japanese actor Denjiro Okochi, lunch at an automated sushi restaurant (delicious and fun) and shopping at the covered market! Fabulous!
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you , Sue! It was so nice meeting you and them. I really hope to see you and your husband soon. Koji

Koji met our group of eight outside the cruise terminal and he was right on time. We had a fantastic day with him as he took us on train rides to our different destinations. We saved so much time having an experienced guide with us. If we tried to do this tour on our own we would have wasted so much time trying to figure out where we were going. By the end of the day, we all fell in love with Koji and his winning smile. He took us to places in Kyoto and Osaka and returned us to the ship on time.

Koji was excellent- knowledgeable, friendly, funny and flexible! We couldn't have enjoyed the tour more. The descriptions and history of the sites were fascinating and informative. Koji is high energy - we covered a lot of ground in the eight hours. We would and will highly recommend him to others looking for a guide in Kyoto. Thanks, Koji, for wonderful day!

We spent a total of 3 days with Koji enjoying Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, and Miyajima. He was simply fantastic. He responded well to our individual needs throughout the day and put together a great itinerary for us in Japan. I highly recommend Koji for your visit!

We spent 3 days with Koji, each day becoming better and better. His knowledge of the sights to see and how to efficiently guide through them to avoid crowds, achieve the most efficient viewing, and history are first class. I highly recommend Koji!

Koji was exceptional. The pace was exactly what we were looking for and the afternoon was peppered with interesting Japanese culture and comments - even explaining some of the subway advertisements. Highly highly recommended. Thanks koji!

Koji is a Rock Star guide! Fantastic day for father and daughter to tour Kyoto -- we hit great sites all day and Koji gave us a great background and context for all the sites. We felt very comfortable with Koji -- I would recommend him to anyone, especially if you want to have a little adventure and keep a high tempo for the day. You will not be sorry! I hear he has a great bike tour also -- I imagine that would be wonderful too.

Koji provide our family with an AMAZING guided tour experience. The day was packed with interesting sites, great commentary and good food! We walked and took the train everywhere, and had a chance to dive into the culture, history and sights with information, enthusiasm and energy. All the sites we visited were outstanding- we couldn't think of one we'd leave off the list! Koji is attentive and knowledgeable. I recommend his tour with great enthusiasm!!!

Koji was very helpful in planning our trip to Himeji castle, the gardens at the castle, (including the excellent lunch spot in the garden), and Mt. Syosyazan Enkyoji temple. Climbing to the top of Himeji castle was one of our favorites during our month in Japan. As with the two other days, trip planning and travel was outstanding, and we 'walked the least and saw the most' with Koji's route--and got to see so much along the way. Koji's insights on all of our tours was superb. Great tour guide.

Koji worked with us on our tours in advance. On our day 2 in Japan, we toured a number of temples and shrines, examples are Sanjusangendo and Tofuku-Ji temples, and Fushimi Inari-Taisha Shrine, as well as gardens, Osaka Castle, Dontonburi (Osaka Times Square), and Shinsekai nostalgic street. As with day 1, Koji had a route that allowed us to walk the least and see the most--including numerous items of interest along the way. As on day 1, Koji found a great restaurant for lunch. Excellent Guide!

Koji worked with us on our custom tours. Day 1 We saw Nishiki Food Market, then 5 beautiful temples Ninna Ji, Ginkaku Ji, Einkando Jenrinji, Shoren-in Monzeki, Kiyomizudera; and the District. (my spell check keeps correcting the names, so my apologies). Koji had the route figured out to allow us to see the most and walk the least, with this very challenging list--but also took us to Okanomiyaki Katsu for lunch. Koji had the background, and was fantastic! Outstanding guide service!
We spent the whole day with Koji. We were 9 people, two families with guys from 15 to 24 years old. With him we could visit Kyoto at the best. He could explain us the history, the habits, the culture of Japan. He was always kind and propositive. A wonderful day. At the end we were tired but happy, for sure without him we couldn't have visited all these special places in one day. Thank you Koji! Laura and family

This tour was jam-packed, but we never felt rushed at any site. Koji is a delightful tour guide. He is pleasant, funny, knowledgeable, flexible and informative. He asked about our interests and things we'd like to see/try and tried to accommodate all of them. In addition to the usual historical sites, he also showed us the "off the beaten path" gems that made this day so special. His tour far exceeded our expectations. We would all highly recommend him.

Koji made our stay in Kyoto memorable!!! We loved everything he showed us starting from the bamboo forest to the Fushimi Temple. His explanations were intriguing and thorough. He was very excited to show us Kyoto so he made it a very interactive and enjoyable tour. He also had an ipod to show a lot of pictures of the sites we will be visiting. Wonderful Experience!!! Best time in Kyoto

Our family had such a fun day with Koji. We had requested to see the Nijo Castle, Kinkakuji Temple,Ginkakauji Temple and Kiyomizudera Temple, but after the castle and two temples, Koji knew we were "temple out" and suggested Nishiki Market instead which was an excellent choice for the family. Koji was an excellent guide----very personable, knowledgeable, and catered to our needs. I would highly recommend him to anyone coming to Kyoto. Marge Young and Ohana from Hawaii

Do you want to see best "must see" places in Kyoto and be entertained at the same time? Then Koji is your man! He is a terrific guide! He has alot of energy and a great sense of humor and was very accommodating and flexible. He provided us a great combination of historical perspective and fun, interesting tidbits on the areas in Kyoto we visited. I don't know how many times we laughed with him! You'll love Koji's enthusiasm, we highly recommend him!
Kyoto is a beautiful city. We saw with the guide the top of everything.

Koji is a very a really fun guide and very well prepared for our port visit to Osaka. He arranged to lead us on our journey to Kyoto by subway and train. We beat the traffic and it was fun to learn about the great transportation systems. We saw an incredible shrine with the big Torri gates as Koji explained the culture. We had a wonderful lunch in a very authentic restaurant which was so interesting. Loved the Kobe beef! It was raining and yet we had a great time and the Cherry Blossoms were beautiful.
Excellent guide. Always looking out for how he can help.

To give you an idea how good this guide is..on day one I said (late in the day) "looks like my phone is about to die" he said "would you like a charger? " and produced a phone charger from his bag!! Because the phone was dead I couldn't take any pictures where we were so he said "please use this camera and produced a great little digital camera which is way better than the iPhone!!! When the phone had charged up, he said "would you like to e-mail your family?" And produced a portable wifi zone. Amazing!

We gave Koji a difficult task of seeing Kyoto and Nara in one day. He is an excellent and knowledgeable guide with very good English skills. He is intelligent and extended himself to be considerate of older travelers. The weather was cold and rainy and he kept us going and happy. He is incredibly hard working and never stopped supplying us with interesting facts. He planned the day perfectly.
Koji was a very personable man and it was a pleasure to spend the whole day with him touring Kyoto. He didnt rush us and we didn't finish our tour until 7 pm - a big day, but worth it! We chose to walk a lot (our choice entirely) which meant we were able to take in more of Kyouto's sights and sounds. He was very knowledgable and spoke good English. We enjoyed our conversations throughout the day on many varied topics (26000 steps and as many words)! We highly recommend Koji - you'll have a great time.
We had an amazing day with Koji. He is a wonderful guide with good English and Italian. He tailored the day to suit our needs. We added on a trip to the monkeys and stopped at great shops and restaurants. Without such an amazing guide we would not have seen so much of Kyoto in a day and gained such insight on the culture and history. The whole family rated this as the BEST DAY EVER
Koji was a wonderful guide leading us through the amazing Kyoto sites - highly recommended!
Koji is wonderful. Very knowledgeable. A Great guide. He doesn't rush you, but still manages to pack a lot into one day.

Koji was absolutely wonderful and energetic! We would highly recommend Koji to anyone visiting Japan. There were six of us and every one of us were delighted that he was our tour guide. Since we only had a day to tour Kyoto, he was able to show us so many places that would normally take at least two days. Koji made sure that we saw all the places on our list of "must sees" even though it was long over due for him to go home. He was very knowledgeable, personable and accommodating. A great tour guide!

Koji was an excellent host for our first full day in Kyoto after 7 days in Japan. As a family with three children (aged 8,11 and 13) who are good walkers but can only take so much history it was a tough ask. Nevertheless Koji's good english, strong content knowledge, relentless energy and approachable style made this the perfect way to get to grips with this amazing city. It has to be said that when my sons discovered that Koji does ninja re-enactment they thought the world of him!
Fantastic tour with Koji! We are family of 4 adults and 2 kids (10 and 12yo) enjoyed the day in Uji and Kyoto , very informative tour and lots of great advice from Koji . Very flexible and accomodating guide !

Koji took us around all the sites of Kyoto in an amazing whirlwind of a day. Such a friendly, knowledgeable and thoughtful guide and a day we will never forget. Five out of five isn't enough. We would never have seen half of the things we saw without Koji and recommend him to you 100%. Cathy
We really enjoyed Koji's tour of Kyoto. There was only two of us which meant it was a very personal tour that could be shaped to take advantage of our desires to see gardens. Koji is a really personable and enthusiastic guide that provided a wealth of information to us about his culture and his appreciation of all things japanese. And most importantly, he introduced us to one of the best coffee we have ever drunk...

Excellent tour! Koji was energetic and happy to show us Kyoto. He knows how to put together a well organized tour to maximize your day. Was particularly good at knowing best spots for pictures and was excellent at taking pictures of us with landmarks perfectly placed in the photo with us. He was good at giving just enough information about each site without slowing down tour.

We were uncertain about which guide to use in Kyoto based on the range of guides. We liked what we saw in Koji M and immediately set up a dialogue. We had a long list of locations we wanted to see. Koji was able to create a list based off ours and we were off. Using public transit, we were able to see the city by bus & rail. We visited Ginkaku-ji Temple , The Path of Philosophy, Honen-in Temple, Eikan-do temple, Nanzen-ji Temple, Fushimi Inari-Taisha Shrine, & Tofuku-ji Temple. Koji is Sugoi.(Awesome.)

Koji's friendly and easygoing manner was a great asset for our group. We made some last-minute adjustments, and he was able to accommodate us and guide us expertly. Highly recommended!
Koji had an excellent knowledge of Kyoto and an extensive itinerary. It rained heavily at the start of day and faced with our initial trepidation, Koji calmly told us it would clear by midday and promptly rearranged the itinerary. We ended up having a great time visiting so many beautiful sites. It was a jam packed itinerary requiring a lot of walking but by day's end we were enraptured with Kyoto's beauty that we forgot about our tired legs.We would do it all over again with Koji and recommend him highly!
