We spent an absolutely lovely day in Tuscany with our guide Massimo and our driver Andrea. Massimo shared information on everything from the tower of Pisa to the conquest of the Etruscans. Our visit to the olive processing facility and the olive oil tasting was enlightening. We will not look at olive oil the same way again. Then it was on to the sheep farm for a lesson in cheese making. After a lovely lunch of locally prepared meats and cheeses we then toured a medieval village.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Buongiorno Karen, thank you so much for your kind words. I am so happy that you and Rocky enjoyed so much the day in the rural Tuscany with us! Soon after we dropped you off in Florence I think a storm hit the town and I hope it did not bother your plans for a great fiorentina steak :) Hopefully you can get back soon and enjoy another foodie day in Tuscany with me. saluti a presto Massimo
We were regaled with stories of then and now as we explored and observed the cheese making and olive pressing in the Volterra region. Massimo showed us how extra virgin olive oil should look and smell and taste. What a pity we couldn't bring the products home with us.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: I am so glad that you enjoyed this program and that you became new and aware consumers of extra virgin olive oil!! Arrivederci a presto, Massimo
