We learned so much more than we expected. Xavier is a superb guide. He has an excellent command of his topic and is happy to discussed local politics and culture. If you want a local guide and are interested in the history of Quebec City then Xavier has to be your first choice.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you David for the review and rating. I'm glad you enjoyed your private tour dedicated to military history of Quebec City and learned about the Canadian part of Seven Years War !

As a history teacher I can vouch for the fact that Xavier is a terrific tour guide - knowledgeable, personable, insightful, witty and curious. My wife (also a history major) and I spent a delightful, fact-filled four hours with Xavier, and we can't imagine anyone doing a better job.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Merci beaucoup Jeff. It was a real challenge to guide you both: you had "deep" and meaningful questions. It has been a real pleasure for me to take up this challenge, especially because you already had a real understanding of the connected events in New England. I'm glad you enjoyed I added a Canadian piece to the puzzle of the complex American history.

Our guide was pleasant, professional, and knowledgeable. We had very poor weather (steady rain) but thoroughly enjoyed our time with Xavier. He was very considerate regarding the situation and concerned for our welfare. Great personality.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Hi Ed and Linda, you got the only rainy day of the week, sorry ! Thank you for your review and rating, I'm glad you enjoyed the tour even under the rain.

Tours were exactly what we had hoped they would be. I felt he had tailored the tour somewhat to meet our interests. Both tours were excellent. He was very knowledgable and well organized, projected a clear, distinct voice that two clients with compromised hearing loss could hear and understand every word he spoke. He has a delightful personality. The pace was excellent and although we had stops when he wanted to discuss something in detail there was no lag. He was very professional and worthy of his fee
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you very much Joan for your review and rating. This is the first I provide, for the same clients, 2 walking tours : the historical one and the military history tour. It was a challenge for me, for the first tour, to not talk at all about military history and to adapt the itinerary to avoid too much military sites we were going to see together the next day. I'm glad you appreciated the way I tailored the tours for you.

Xavier has spent a lot of time learning his subject. We found our time with him to not only provide an excellent understanding of the battles of Quebec City but also of the general history of the city. It is difficult to separate the two. Thank you, Xavier, for a very enjoyable and informative day!
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you Beth and David ! It's always a pleasure to guide interested and interesting people especially during a sunny day. Before you enjoy the museums I recommended, I'll send you an email to complete the informations about Vietnam war, French presence in India and Carillon battle.

A very personable, intelligent and knowledgeable guide. Xavier did a very good tour of the military sites around Quebec City. His historic knowledge was excellent, even as we discussed events that happened back in the 1700's. Highly recommended. A laid back, friendly guide, with a good sense of humor.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you very much Michael !

Xavier was fantastic! He is extremely knowledgeable about European history as well as Quebec history. He inserted some humor in his stories and was very detailed. This was our first tour with him and we were still glad we had him for another tour the next day. We recommend him very highly.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you again Madelyn. It is always a challenge to provide this tour because people who book this tour are very interested about military history and already know a lot. I'm glad you appreciated the details of the battles as the European context.

I'm a history professor and I'm writing a book that includes an account of the 1775 attack on Quebec. I visited the city to better understand the battle. Happily for me, I found Xavier's "Battles of Quebec City" tour. I couldn't have asked for a better tour guide. Xavier customized the tour around my specific interests and answered all my general questions about Quebec. He brings a wealth of knowledge and a delightful personality to his tours. I enthusiastically recommend him!
Xavier was extremely friendly and engaging. His tour was very well researched, and sequenced in a way which was interesting. He was very knowledgeable about both the information he presented, as well as miscellaneous questions that arose as we toured, both historical and modern. He was careful to monitor the level of engagement of his audience, and to modify his tour based on our needs and interests. We would definitely recommend him to our friends and family.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you Darla for your nice review. It was a pleasure to guide you and your family from Lévis to Québec-City and focus on the military history. I'm glad your appreciated the tour - even the kids who already knew a lot.

Xavier's tour of Quebec City for our group of four on June 27 was fantastic! Being a private tour he adapted the 4 hour tour to our needs, even making changes along the way. Beyond the history of the various seiges and battles around Quebec, as per our request, he also covered important historic, cultural and religious aspects of the places we visited. It was a perfect blend for our group. I would recommend Xavier highly when you visit this beautiful and historic city!
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thank you very much Eduardo ! And I learned many things about Puerto Rico ! I hoped you enjoyed Louis Jolliet's shore excursion too.
