Few folks do this tour. That is understandable given its considerable cost. If you can afford it, go to Tinian. The juxtaposition of its current quietness with its historical significance is reality almost unsettling. Walt brings amazing knowledge, enthusiasm, and energy to the visit. At its conclusion, you will have experienced an incredible moment in world history that few get to enjoy. Was it worth the cost? I'm unsure but we are sure glad we did it.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Refreshing to meet folks of a mindset & experience who appreciate Tinian's significance & bring knowledge from related fields to bear! Yes, the tour requires air fare (Saipan/Tinian) + vehicle + return flight--necessary evils paid to the airline/rental cos. Payoff: be among few worldwide to see the actual bomb pits, drive the runway, touch replicas of the bombs, view the assembly area, explore war-torn buildings, and meet residents of the island that is often omitted from the Hiroshima & Nagasaki stories.
