Tour: #153237, TINIAN to Hiroshima Enola Gay Historic Tour, Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands, United States    view tour
Date: Feb 22/18

Few folks do this tour. That is understandable given its considerable cost. If you can afford it, go to Tinian. The juxtaposition of its current quietness with its historical significance is reality almost unsettling. Walt brings amazing knowledge, enthusiasm, and energy to the visit. At its conclusion, you will have experienced an incredible moment in world history that few get to enjoy. Was it worth the cost? I'm unsure but we are sure glad we did it.

TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Refreshing to meet folks of a mindset & experience who appreciate Tinian's significance & bring knowledge from related fields to bear! Yes, the tour requires air fare (Saipan/Tinian) + vehicle + return flight--necessary evils paid to the airline/rental cos. Payoff: be among few worldwide to see the actual bomb pits, drive the runway, touch replicas of the bombs, view the assembly area, explore war-torn buildings, and meet residents of the island that is often omitted from the Hiroshima & Nagasaki stories.

Tour: #301965, "Saipan in a Day!" TREKKING and nature adventure, San Jose, Northern Mariana Islands, United States    view tour
Date: Feb 21/18

We have been on many tours in many countries and this tour is among the best. Walt is a transplant from Jamaica via NYC but has fallen in love with Saipan. He is incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastically shares that knowledge. He is incredibly attentive to every detail. The tour was exhaustive and insightful. We felt we really knew Saipan at its conclusion. If I had a complaint, it would be the high cost. Although initially reluctant because of the price, we are glad we chose to do the tour.

TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thanks for that, William! It was great sharing "my" Saipan and Tinian with you and Antoinette, and, as is typically the case with world travelers like yourselves, the exchange of knowledge made our two days together an insightful experience for me as well! Enjoy the world, and its many "unsolved" mysteries! The truth shall yet be revealed! I'll think of you when it finally is! :-)

GREAT TOUR! Walt is very knowledgeable and wonderful tour guide. He was very pleasant, easy to understand, and made the day truly enjoyable. It was money well-spent to get a full-day tour of all the major sites, plus some off the beaten path sites. You won't go wrong if you want to get the back story to the island. Thanks Walt!

TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Hey David, It was great meeting you and Corinne! Loved all your challenging questions as well as the opportunity to learn about you and your family! Hope to see you again this side of the world!

Outstanding tour! Walt was very informative and eager to show us everything. He went out of his way to make the tour enjoyable. The extra to go up Tapotchau is well worth it. Highly recommended.

Tour: Gary's Tour of Saipan and Tinian, New York City, New York, United States
Date: Feb 14/17

Walt provided my wife and I an excellent tour of Saipan and Tinian. His excellent narratives of WW2 sites as well as history of Saipan were absolutely great. Walt was able to get us in to see a private collection of WW2 artifacts. Really cool stuff...Our next day started with a really great airplane flight to Tinian. If anyone goes to Saipan, you also have to go to Tinian. Between both islands, Walt made history come alive. All I can say is Walt made this a very cool experience. Thank you.

TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: hey Gary, Nancy! It was great showing you my Saipan! As mentioned, each tour I give is always a brand new experience for me as I get to see the island, its history, people and culture through new eyes, with different questions and different interests. As promised, I'll send you a copy of "Saipan Now!" so you can have a keepsake of our adventure! Stay tuned!

Tour: Brian's Tour with RAV4, San Jose, Northern Mariana Islands, United States
Date: Oct 9/16

Walt was fantastic. We really wanted to do a thorough battlefield tour of the Battle for Saipan. Walt was able to get us to each landing beach, Agingan Point, My Tapochau, Garapan, and Marpi Point. Having done some significant prep work was beneficial, and Walt was able to get us where we wanted to go. The best part, however, was the context Walt was able to provide. I learned a ton about Saipan's history after WWII, its immigration policies, garment industry, local laws, etc. Highly recommended.

TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE: Thanks, Brian! I really enjoyed giving you and Kevin the tour! One of the reasons I enjoy what I do is that each time I take someone out, I get to see Saipan through new eyes. Being able to see the landing beaches and gain new insights from a modern-day Marine's perspective, combined with the little-known details of combat strategy both of you provided, was fascinating. I, too, learned a lot, and future clients will definitely benefit!
