During the closing days of the Civil War, Sherman led 60, 000 Union soldiers into Raleigh, a town of less than 4000 people. Only one day after the occupation, Abraham Lincoln was assassinated. The drama that unfolded from this event is only one of the many interesting stories included on this tour.

End location: At your hotel or other agreed upon location.

Duration: 2 hours

Although I generally prefer walking tours, I can accomodate 4 passengers in my Lexus sedan. The tour can be both a windshield and walking tour. My car is comfortable and air conditioned, but 3 people would need to sit in the back seat.

What’s Included

I will meet you in a central location and provide a guided tour that is both walking and riding. I can point you to exhibits and Civil War sites that you can do on your own time.

What’s Extra

There are many Civil War sites in the area and some house museums which charge fees that would be the customer's responsibility.

A Recent Review of this tour

Parker was fantastic - incredibly interesting and knowledgeable about the Civil War Years in Raleigh and about Raleigh's history generally. She picked us up from our hotel in her comfortable Lexus and we had a fascinating two hours with her. Highly recommend.
