With 100 years left in ruins, Mexican haciendas are resurging from their ashes. Join me to know some spectacular examples.
With a long history from the early years of the Spanish conquest, and with roots in Mediterranean heritage, the haciendas depicted a microcosm of the Mexican population for as long as four centuries. For better or worse, the modern Mexican traditions and much of its culture, economy, society, religiosity, technology, and art development can be traced to the haciendas history and way of live.
This tour will show you only a small sample of the 'hacienda institution' that dominated the landscape of Spain, Portugal and their colonies in America for centuries.
With what is left of the now-gone architectural grandiosity of the land-lords' big houses, their ancient buildings will help me to share with you the history and legends from their formation years, until its sudden disappearance in the early XX century.
