Discover the Duomo of Monreale and the the Temple of Segesta
Monreale and Segesta. Our tour starts with a visit to the town of Monreale, where we admire the magnificent Norman cathedral with its impressive Byzantine mosaics from the 12th century. Afterwards we take the panoramic road - first through the mountains with a fantastic view over the gulf of Castellammare, then along beautiful vineyards - to the archeological zone of Segesta. In ancient times, this was an important town of the Elymians, most probably the survivors of the Trojan War. Not too much has survived of the old town: Most impressive, though, is the wonderful Greek temple. During our visit, we study the principles of Greek architecture and enjoy the wonderful landscape around the temple. Afterwards we travel back to Trapani.
