For the Berlin visitors who still want to find time for Potsdams "quieter" park side
For the journey to Potsdam offers the German Railways regional trains at 30 min. of tact which need only 30 min. to Potsdam. On the way to the " new garden " we cross the historical " Dutch quarter " (about 1725) and reach the garden entrance (I am an owner of a valid guiding license for the garden and castles Cecilienhof and Marble Palais). Lying on the „Heiligen See", the garden is a jewel with various buildings, first to mention the "Marble Palace" of 1787, the small Orangery lying besides, a "pyramid", actually, a cold room, as well as at the upper end by the Castle Cecilienhof, which become famous as the place of the"Potsdam Conference" in 1945. From here our walk leads us over on the restored area of the „Whitsun Mountain" (Pfingstberg). Along historical villas of famous majority industrialist families past, we reach on top the impressive "Belvedere" from 1850.
From the observation tower one can overlook the "Prussian Arkadien". Back we take the bus to the central station from Potsdam.
We start by train from Berlin and then we visit the inner historic city center of Potsdam. Afterwards we walk into the New Garden where we see a plenty of English Garden style and several buildings of the 18th towards late 19th cent.
