A half-day tour of Muir Woods and Sausalito
Want to get away from the hustle-bustle of the big city? Spend a half-day visiting the ancient redwood trees of Muir Woods, the bayside village of Sausalito, and the stunning Marin Headlands.
The National Park Service prohibits guides from leading tours in Muir Woods. Therefore, I will talk to you about the trees during the drive to the Woods but will let you stroll through the redwoods on your own.
The National Park Service requires that I get a reservation to take you to Muir Woods. We'll first stop at the north vista point for a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Then it's off to Muir Woods, where you'll walk among coastal redwoods - the tallest trees in the world. We'll finish in the pretty bayside town of Sausalito where you have the option of spending a short time strolling among the shops and galleries and returning to San Francisco with me, or staying longer and returning to the city by ferry to Pier 41 at Fisherman's Wharf or the Ferry Building at the foot of Market Street.

After touring the city the day before, we 3 retired ladies were ready to cross the bridge and visit Muir's Woods and the Marin sites. Rick was able to obtain an early morning park entry and we had the Woods almost to ourselves. Then we heading for the viewing sites for pictures and down to Mill Valley and Sausalito, past the floating homes. We finished our tour with Rick at Sausalito and took the ferry back to San Francisco. Wonderful day. Thanks Rick.
