Let's go on a journey through history
We will begin our adventure with a visit of the Mont Saint Michel where you will travel back in time. The Mont has been listed as a world heritage site since 1979 and is magnificent, it will leave you breathless. The abbey was built over a period of 1300 years in Roman an Gothic style. We will discover all its secrets passages and learn the history of this phenomenal place.
The American cemetery in Saint James in the department of the Manche bordering Brittany is less known but as beautiful and peaceful as the American cemetery in Colleville. 4, 410 soldiers lay there and they are 4, 408 tombs.
We will then discover the unique German mausoleum in France. It is situated in the baie du mont Saint-Michel in Normandy. The cemetery was inaugurated in 1963 and contains 34 crypts with 180 soldiers in each crypt. It is an austere place but very moving.
Our visit will begin at the Mont Saint Michel, we will discover its Abbey and its village.
We will then travel to the American cemetery in Saint James in the department of the Manche bordering Brittany. Although smaller and not as well known as the cemetery in Colleville, it is as beautiful and as peaceful and is worth a visit.
If time permits, we shall carry on our tour of history with a visit of the German cemetery on Mont Huisne. The cemetery contains nearly 12000 burials of German military personnel. Most of the fallen date from the advance of the allies during operation Cobra.
